The Credit Thread

Sure I can intro you to companies I’ve worked with that can help if someone needs it. Shoot me a pm

It’s also been a money maker for me working with a couple of these companies and leveraging my good credit for others.

You’re making money for having good credit?

Edit: oh. Trade lines.

Selling tradelines? What’s a good company that you do it with?

Happy to share details via PM. If you have aged and high limit cards that you don’t use very much it can be free money with some minimal work. But also some risk. Legal but card companies can shut down your account if they think you’re selling spots.

When you get a chance can you shoot me some info too? I’d definitely like to hear more about this. Thanks!

@harrydogyo - Interested in trade lines as well.

They already track those SSNs, so good luck!

I’ve sold hundreds of spots over three years. Lost one of my cards, there are card companies not worth risking, but for the money it was a no brainer. Has slowed down a lot though.

Leasing for the first time at a dealership several hours away from me.

When I first inquired, the salesperson gave a high number and the number I had from other sources (friends, Reddit etc) was half of that.

So, I said thank you and he asked what number I had in mind and he didn’t even put me on hold, and asked some other person at the dealership and talked a bit about the color options and then said that he was ready to do the numbers that I asked, but wanted me to put down a deposit. I said that we needed to do some paperwork before actually starting the deal.

He said that he can send me the link to do my credit app and then, I’d need to make a deposit before doing the paperwork.

I’m new to all this and not sure what the correct sequence ought to be. I don’t want to be in a situation where my credit app is
rejected for whatever reason and he has my deposit. Also, don’t want an unnecessary hard pull on my credit and later, the guy revises the price and adds other things on.

Can someone please help me by pointing me to the resources or a quick write-up on how this transaction should flow?

Thank you in advance.

Get the offer in writing, even if it’s just an email from a a manager confirming those numbers, then put in a credit app, and then a deposit if needed in that order.

Thank you. Is it ok to offer a $100 deposit (on a $30000 car)?

Offer $500-1000 refundable deposit.

To clarify, refundable in case my credit app gets rejected?

State laws vary. What state are you in?

I have paid the dealer a $1000. However, he’s getting everything wrong. Wrong car color, and in the order, he’s not showing an adjustment for the deposit I already paid the dealership.

Should I insist that they do a proper contract and send me for review or better still, a contract that can be esigned? I don’t want to travel 165 miles and find that they’re doing a bait and switch.

Kindly provide advice on what I should ask for. And what should be the red flags I look out for to say that enough is enough and I need my deposit refunded?

Yes, asked for the full contract with the VIN. I wouldn’t worry too much about deposit not being applied in the contract. I’m guessing you paid the dealer with a CC.

I think @RookieLessee is too new with only 30 minutes of read time to create his own thread. Isn’t it an hour of read time and using the search function to be able to post your own thread?
