Update to my BW saga.

Ended up getting a private party BW and my credit union (skyla CU) beat cal coasts rate after I shared what I got with them.
Skyla CU: 4.5% 72m (cal coast was 4.98% at 75months)

First time I did a private party with them, I’ve done two dealer purchases and a refi with them before though. Pretty easy process.

Still waiting on Carmax to pay off Cal coast loan but it can take up to 14 days, and I’m assuming it’ll take the full 14 days. Carmax will cover any interest incurred.

Thinking about financing my next car. Has anybody seen any rates that beat these?

Penfed has pretty good rates.

As a long time penfed member, I’ve never been able to get advertised rates with top tier credit even. They’re always a percentage point or two higher, and no explanation for why the rates vary so much from what they advertise.

This is through TrueCar aka PenFed Car Buying Service. Regular rates will be higher.

+1 but only happened last time in 2023. 850 credit, previous loans with them, CC too, never a late payment and I should have had lik 4.5% and I got like 5.5%. I asked why and even asked for a manager and nothing changed and got no explanation.

Thank for the heads up I won’t waste my time.

Any good leads lately? I’m seeing DCU mentioned a few places.. DCU.org

Was shopping for used auto rates recently. Was able to get this rates with Tier 1 credit.

You do need to do autopay from their checking account to the full rate. For example, the 4.74% is given as 4.99 - 0.25 autopay discount.

FWIW, Navy Fed gave me 7.39%. Forgot what they were advertising but this was for 72 months. Transunion score 845.
