I have worked a deal on a 2018 TSS tundra 4 by 4 zero down with just the first payment due at signing and $303 a month for 24 months 12000 miles MSRP 47.5 as far as I understand it the MF is 00195 and residual is 76%. My question is I got a quote from another dealer for the same truck but 1,000 more MSRP and it was 360 a month with zero down and they had the total 6.25 % sales tax on the quote which was like 2300 and discounted the truck a total of 11000 including the 5,000 rebate also through us bank this current one they only have $480 of the sales tax which is 1.25% and discounted the truck to 43434 minus 5k rebate. To get me at 303. My question is why is the sales tax different am I going to be on the hook to pay more sales tax down the road because they messed up are they able to charge me more than what I sign for? Or is this completely normal and they just manipulated the numbers to work out…residual is 36100 of which the total payments are 7278 and half go to rental charge and the other half is depreciation. This is my first lease any tips would be helpful. I already put a 303 down as my first payment but I haven’t signed won’t sign till Monday.
Sounds like the dealer had tax credits from the bank it was able to use to get you to the payment you were looking for. You will not owe additional Texas sales tax on the lease later.
The thing that has me worried is on the contract it has the taxes under the estimated official fees and taxes and that it could change higher or lower.
Post the lease agreement…
Post Done…
You are good… they used tax credits to wipe out most the sales tax to get your payment down and then rolled the rest of the tax into your cap cost. The sales tax is imposed on the sale of the car to the leasing company and is assessed at that time. It will not change as it is not an estimate. When you get your license plate and registration in the mail in a few weeks you will see the sales tax remitted on the registration receipt.
Thanks. I got them to fill up the 38 gallon gas tank too.
May I ask what dealership in Texas you got this deal from. Thanks
