Texas Newcomer Looking For Lease (TN Status Revisited)

Hi folks,

Recently arrived in Texas with minimum three year permission to work in US on TN status. Am looking for leasing options noting that I have no credit history having only arrived a couple of weeks ago and due to get my SSN on Monday.

Have read previous similar topics and noted some responses flat out say you will not get approved whereas others were more positive including brokers who seem to have reached out to some who have posted such messages.

I am not looking for anything luxury just a reliable sedan or maybe SUV at a reasonable rate.

I have had quotes from International Auto Source which look something like this:
36 months. $3.5k down between $300 and $400 per month or 0 down $450 to $500 per month. These are for cars in the $25k to $30k range.

I also went to the Kia dealership as I quite liked the look of the Niro mpg but they couldn’t really give me much information without a credit application first.

Is the IAS quote as good as it gets for someone like me?
If at all relevant (almost certainly not I suspect) I have a reasonable income which I could present as proof and good credit scores from UK and Canada.

Warm thanks for your attention.

Maybe a EV or PHEV. But there are almost no gas vehicles that are worth leasing right now especially in Texas.

Thanks for the kind suggestion.

Is anyone familiar with foreign professional programs or similar for EV or PHEVs that may compare to the IAS lease fees I quote above?

@IAC is based in TX and represents a few different brands. Also, @Ryan_S is a Toyota dealer in TX. He could help you on a Toyota.

Honestly, I do not think you are in a position to hack any lease.

All of the hacks here depend on Tier 1 credit, conquest, loyalty, supplier, first responder, recent grad, Costco, etc., etc., etc. which I am going to guess you do not qualify for.

I know it is more, but I think the international program you looked at might be your best bet for a new car. Maybe buy a used Civic or Corolla, easy to sell in 3 years when you leave.

And insurance will be brutal.

Check Marketplace for VW/Audi, Mercedes and BMW EVs. Or MB GLC350e PHEV. Just some of the brands that have been mentioned for international/expat programs AFAIK.

But check your insurance costs before signing a lease.

Thanks folks for your kind advice. Will take it away and report back if I find anything.

I am on TN and have leased and financed vehicles here. You may have issues for the other reasons people have said (credit, insurance history) but the TN isn’t an issue.
