Fewer moving parts should def help make EVs more reliable than ICE…but Tesla’s challenge will be to make the non-drivetrain parts last just as long.

Tell us why you find it hard to believe. Few rubbing parts, well lubricated makes for excellent results.

Though not a good sign, that does not mean that the electric motors are faulty or unreliable.

I wonder if it’s real world 1 million miles or a simulated 1 million miles by hooking the unit up to a power source and running it 24/7. That Tundra that made it to 1 million miles took 10 years of hard driving to get there.

I definitely don’t consider myself a Tesla fan boy, but the bumper issue was related to some kind of drainage or water barrier, IIRC, not to the bumpers being poorly attached. It was happening to certain owners after significant rainfall and if enough water gets trapped there weight and physics are going to win out against any bumper.
Then why didn’t the Tesla’s engineering geniuses think of drilling a hole in the bottom of each bumper? 
Truthfully, if car manufacturer didn’t offer cheap subsidized leases due to overcapacity, and I had a daily commute that required driving, I would be driving a Model 3.
I’d be paying $800/month over a period of six years to finance the thing though.

why would you pay $800/mo for a depreciating asset?
Probably the same reason why others finance expensive cars for 800 a month? Those depreciate as well. Depreciation is not unique to Tesla cars. In fact; they depreciate far less than other sedans/passenger cars I’ve seen on the market.
I still can’t find a base Model S with reasonable miles and condition for under 50k used :/.
On Tesla let the hype wear off.
Also good luck with an out of warranty Tesla. No such thing as a independent auto shop.

Out of left field, they released a mid range version that is 45k. People who order now should still be able to get the full $7500. They are basically turning all the LR rwd car and software locking them to 260 miles. There is no more LR rwd.
Aside from some exceptions, Porsches are depreciating assets too. Shouldn’t anyone buy them?

Porsches still depreciate. As do Ferraris, Lamborghinis, McLaren, etc. All cars are depreciating assets except a select few. Some depreciate less than others.
Cayennes and Mecans are collectibles? Limited edition GT3 and the like ok, but not all Porsche’s are collectibles. Who knows how long Tesla will be around, so their collectibility factor will depend on their particular model, number produced etc etc. Most any car can be worth X amount to someone if in prestine condition past a certain number of years.
