Tesla model 3 vs Polestar 2

I test drove a Polestar 2 recently… there was something about the seat that felt very uncomfortable. Maybe it is just me, but I would strongly recommend sitting in one before signing.

The Tesla seat seems like it would fit anybody, because it has little bolstering and is quite heavily padded.

I have a leased 19 accord that I am getting out of. I am over mileage at 60k. I owe $18000 was offered $22300. I am looking to pull the trigger in 3 weeks when I relocate to San Jose.

Honda doesn’t allow 3rd party buyouts anymore. You’ll either need to buy it yourself first and resell or sell to a Honda dealer.

Thank you for the heads up.

Just curious, what was your allotted mileage per year? 12k? In the quotes you shared, it shows 10k miles per year? Do you plan to drive less once you move to the West Coast?

My honda was 12000 miles a year. I have 5 lease vehicles. Honda was cheapest so I used it for work purposes. My plan was to purchase it after lease
But was offered more then what I owe. I will not be driving as much when I relocate to San Jose. Home to office

Might not be as easy to get Model 3 long range. Everything is sold out. Have several reservations and all got pushed back from December to late April now.

There’s a thread here dedicated to working around that.

The 2 year free charging is also limited to 30 min intervals at a time, just as an FYI

Polestar Automotive USA Inc. has partnered with Electrify America to provide 2 years of free charging sessions (at 150 kW for 30 minutes per session) to new and existing 2021 and 2022 Polestar 2 customers.

Yep 2 years free charging. I pick my vehicle up in 2 weeks.

Did you end up leasing or financing? If leasing, at the same terms you shared in your first post?

Test drove 2021 Polestar 2 today in Princeton, NJ. The car felt very small as a 5’11" guy. After running the numbers, I was told the 2021 with 63K MSRP only had a 63% residual, with sales tax and everything rolled in, the 39mo/10k lease was 750/mo, way more than expected. So on the way back home to Philly I test drove a Tesla Model Y for the first time and the car felt way better for the same ~$60K price for the performance.

Should not be any sales tax on EV purchase in NJ.

If only it actually charged at 150KW. So far I’ve tried 4 examples (2 rentals) of this car and not a single one charged at over 40KW on an EA station.

Unfortunately, I live in Philly, which I feel has a pretty high tax, there was even a leasing tax on top of sales tax.

I’m torn. I have one on order and ready for pick up this week(can cancel for free). Due to the car shortage I am in a bind and need a car. The Denver Space is charging a $995 “Acquisition Fee” so all in all up after taxes, I’d be at $1,713.59 DAS (taxes) and $713.08/mo for a 36/mo - 12k mileage. That Acquisition fee is insane. Insurance is $120/mo as well. Although I like the thought of my first EV, I think this is a crazy price. Thoughts?

Not much to advise here. You either want to lease the car at this price or you don’t. Also, what are your alternatives, considering their availability? Other brands? Purchasing?

buy it, don’t lease it

Due to inventory, I don’t have many options.
