Tesla M3 SR+ vs RAV4prime

I have read through the recent threads on both. I have a R4P SE with weather on hold to be delivered next month $43.5k and will get $8.5k off of that between fed and NYS. C
A friend offered me his Tesla M3 SR+ at $39.9k plus destination etc. the Tesla will cost $7k or so more.
The Tesla is tempting because of the discount. But think the RAV4 provides more car.
Am I missing something?

Is this a used car? How many miles?

Or is it yet to be delivered?

New. Locked in from lower price.

You’re talking about a car that is fully electric and gets roughly 215 miles until you need to charge again and an SUV with 42 full electric miles available then 40 city/36 hwy/38 combined mpg on a 14.5 gallon tank. You’re the first person I’ve seen comparing these two. If both of them fit your lifestyle, go with the Tesla. You MIGHT have a chance at getting a $7,500 fed rebate on the Tesla this year (fingers crossed).

Also, looks like you get a $2,000 rebate from the state of NY for driving an electric car. California was the same when I got mine.

The SR+ with the LFP batteries are happy being charged to 100%. So you do have a usable 270 miles range without battery degradation.

This seems highly highly unlikely…i wouldn’t even think crossing the fingers will help.

Specially with lost votes in Senate due to health issues…

Yeah not an :apple: to :green_apple: comparison

Thanks. NYS updated rebate on model 3 to $500 because of increased price. Don’t think they honor old prices.
It’s really a commuter car for me that I will be happy to drive on 30-45 minute commute that is 35 miles round trip.
I do have kids but we have SUV as primary family car. And once a month or so 220 mile round trip to Philly. Don’t anticipate any really long drives.

It’s comparing one relatively good deal to another. Either car would fit my needs.

Go with the Rav. No question

I have an SR+ and believe me there is no way you’re getting 270 miles unless you’re driving like a :older_woman: but even then I doubt it.

2022 RWD LFP has larger battery then 2021 SR+ LFP. If you take it easy and dont use air near 300 miles is possible.
(based on my recent trips with my 2022)

I got an LFP SR+ a few weeks ago. Get about 270 miles range believe it or not.

Yeah but they represent 2 different cars…

Sedan vs SUV…

Full Electric v Plug in

So they both might fit your needs but 1 would fit better if you consider everything…

But considering the price tag the R4P is hands down the better deal

Also they both have great resale. So take whatever you’d enjoy driving more.

If you can charge at home or work, no-brainer to go EV. You’ll never want to go to a gas station again.

Plus EV driving is more fun.

OTOH, without home or work charging, it’s a no go.

NICE! I am trading mine in for a 2022 MP3 so hopefully I’ll be enjoying that type of range soon, but knowing how fast I drive probably not haha

1000% agree with this statement. If you cannot charge at home or work I would never ever suggest a Tesla or any other full electric vehicle. It’s become a pain in the a$$ just plugging it in at home lately

The plan would be to have a charger at home.
Thankfully I could afford the difference in price between the two and think I will enjoy driving either. One priority is spending less so I think I’ll have to pass on the Tesla ;(
Also being totally honest I’m the kind of person to fill up my tank on empty every time and have a small fear of procrastinating charging.

R4P is more practical, reliable, And low maintenance car. If your daily commute is about 40 miles, hands down, I would go with R4P.
