Is anyone able to see the $1000 off through the link in the promo email? I tried sign-in with the account where cybertruck reservation is and through the link in the email, but don’t see $1000 off.
Based on the looks and Elon being the figure he is, it was easy to hate this thing but man have I changed my mind after watching this video, totally worth your 28 minutes:
Great video that covers stuff that gets glossed over like the 48v efficiency.
Can’t wait for Tesla to put this tech into a CyberSUV format.
DId anyone finally measure the actual usable bed space? The alleged specs said 6.5, but the fact that mountain bike didn’t fit screams waaaay less.
I don’t think it’s 6.5" (they may be fudging this with a “tailgate open” measurement).
I just googled this to see what you’re talking about and it’s strange that it would have to hang over the tailgate, but there are other pics where a bike fits (maybe diagonally?).
And just to restate, I’m not planning on getting one but the above video does illustrate the kind of engineering Tesla is doing beyond the aesthetics/
Bit of a promo puff piece but is certainly highlights what a feat of engineering it actually is
The most interesting part of the vid is at the end where the it compares the over engineering of the model X to the boring straightness of the model Y and the sales numbers of both.
Ultimately I suspect the Cybertruck, like the X will in effect be nothing more than a Halo car, there to keep Tesla in the news and act as a marketing piece.
The engineering lessons learnt from it will filter down into the real mass market car that they will sell a tonne of.
Yeah, I read the jokes that they measured the bed like a TV, diagonally to make the number bigger, but I find it strange that none of the lackeys are measuring the bed. If that’s a NDA covered measurement, that’d be hillarious. So far it’s been nothing but, look fast in straight line, yipeeee.
This isn’t strange at all. This is the preferred method, along with a tailgate pad, to load multiple (3 or more) mountain bikes into a truck bed.
you know the difference? I can lookup the bed size of that Toyota very easily. Somehow CT is the only “truck” with a secret bed size, and even more secret usable size as the bed is not fully straight going up. How about someone does a video of a truck portion, we all already know that its obscenely fast and a model 3 inside, now do the truck bits.
I was more pointing out that carrying four bikes over the tail gate is the most popular method. A more fair criticism is that none of the CT images show the use a truck pad, so you would think the bikes would scratch up the stainless steel. Makes me think they are all staged pictures because a pad (or towel) is ugly.
Tesla claims the bed is 6x4 with a 2500lb payload capacity and can carry construction materials 4x8
you sir owe me 14 minutes of my life back ( Iwatched it at 2x speed).
steer by wire - inifinit 2014, also had a drop bolt for safety if something broke with wire system
the blind spots from the columns - are they fucking nuts? You can hide a bus in there and never see it
no rear view mirror? Have they heard of of camera based mirrors?
blah, blah, blah, R1T has better CD, but we’ll ignore that even though it shows that normal design can do it
So the “feat of engineering” is 48 volt, which is more of a cost saving and locks Tesla into not being able to use any off the shelf components, which makes it even more uninsurable than I originally thought.
Did anyone test the wiper in a crosswind tunnel? It looks like it will be ripped off and not work too well with any wind.
So literally the only thing that this thing has over other vehicles is speed no matter how you try to spin.
Not sure if being sarcastic.
We kind of already know you hate Tesla and Elon. You know you can simply avoid posts concerning Tesla.
It is nearly impossible to have an objective discussion and we should accept a difference of opinion.
Thanks for saving me 14 minutes. The CT just isn’t post-apocalyptic enough for me. I’ll buy one when Elon makes one of these
Let’s make something very clear once and for all. I hate Elon because he is a lying, racist, nazi piece of shit. I don’t hate EVs and frankly I’m glad that more companies are coming out with better products over time. I do not think EV is ready for prime time and the push the way it’s being done is overblown and too early. Unlike SpaceX Tesla didn’t have a team of dedicated people with a sole job of keeping this child away from things, and their products are paying the price.
None of my feelings for hitler junior affect my ability to discuss a specific product.
LOL, I gave you a bullet pointed list, what exactly do you disagree with? Leave the “looks out of the conversation” and it becomes very objective. Let’s hear your “difference of opinion”? Do you think those blind spots are not insane? Do you think the claim “first ever steering by wire” was not a lie? And frankly what does “planes do it it’s fine” have to do with anything? What else do you “objectively” disagree with?
It has a camera based ‘mirror’, if in the screen as opposed to the traditional mirror spot (which you can see in the video while they talk an about lack of mirror).
Don’t get me wrong, the thing is utterly ludicrous but there are things to admire about it that will ultimately drip down to more mainstream, useful products
Jason Camissa is very much from the Jeremy Clarkson school of media. Lots of hyperbole, lots of exaggeration… all for the sake of entertainment, which it often is.
No one should ever confuse those two for objective sources of information.
Which are? I could admire the audacity to release it, but based on the video Elon doesn’t even have the balls to take credit for it, he’s now trying to play it off as his kid wanted a “futuristic truck” so him being mr money bags he made it (and I say Elon and not a video creator, because there is no way anyone who gets their hands on this truck is not running all of their videos through Elon’s approval first) Except we all know that only time his kids talk to him or about him is to point out how big of a POS he is. But I side track, what features of this atrocity do you think are worth admiring?
as a side note, I love how the video just plays off “of course it won’t pass any EU pedestrian safety, but I wouldn’t want to be hit by F150 either”. The whole video just goes on and on proving things with unrelated things. This product cannot stand on its own without trying to compare it to something completely unrelated.
