My wife’s 2022 Telluride has had the rear shocks replaced 3 times in the past two months. All the replacements are under warranty but it’s a major inconvenience, and it doesn’t fix the issue. They first failed at 50k, which is premature, and once replaced, the two others failed almost immediately. Besides hearing them click, I can also see oil dripping out of them. The service manager told me this has been happening with all of the ones he’s replaced recently. I called Kia corporate and have it escalated, they closed the case once without my approval, but have it escalated again. I’m not having them replaced again to simply fail. I don’t see resolution until Kia gets these parts fixed and the vehicle is unsafe to drive when full of passengers. I know they addressed this with the self leveling shocks, but not for mine yet. What are my options?
Unless this falls under your states lemon law then you don’t have many options. Keep it hoping the newest, presumably “problem addressed” parts provide the solution. Or dump it.
IANAL but PA lemon law is first 12 months/12k miles. If the first replacement happened after that, you’re dealing with warranty.
It seems like these are covered under the basic 5y/60k warranty, I’d get as many replacements as they’ll do before that expires to document the issue.
On the self leveling ones, they published an extended service campaign thru NHTSA that extends to 15y/150k.
Work with the service manager at the dealership to lobby Kia on your behalf. Next time it happens take it to a different dealer and do the same thing.
You bought this thing at the peak insanity, no? I’d also be grinding your sales person.
Other than trading out of it you unfortunately have to keep working the warranty angle until that expires, keep contacting Kia corporate and keep working thru dealer service. Good luck.
