So after a ton of searching and test driving, I think I’ve finally landed on getting a Taycan… but also can’t help but consider the i5 M60.
So
- Used (2022-2024) Taycan 4S vs GTS @ $2k/m with Porsche Warranty – I’ve test-driven both, but always on unfamiliar roads. Some 4S builds with 21" wheels and bigger brakes (coated seems to up the size) feel close to GTS, other 4S’s with 20s feel much softer.
*** What’s the story with used Porsche lease programs? I’ve posted about this before – feels like the dealers hold all the cards. I’m getting quoted new 2025 4S lease pricing that matches used in-warranty CPO 2023 GTSs (notice the 9.31% MF - ouch). I assume the used MF is heavily marked up, but I have no data to reference. I’ve seen the calc sheet in the past which in part calls out mileage range the vehicle falls in? Would love any insight on how Porsche Financial actually calculates these. GTS RV in general seem much lower. From a small business standpoint, leasing makes sense for taxes — but long 72m financing is lower and yes the depreciation is brutal. - New 2025 Taycan 4S @ $2k/m – The refreshed 4S with 21s seems like a sweet spot for blending comfort and performance. This I assume is related to the updated two-valve (rebound and compression) air dampers? GTS lease pricing is insanely high - not going there. The recently released 4 has improved power from the prior years and is likely good enough but since they are new discounts are harder to find and am getting numbers thare are just a little lower then the 4S.
- Used 4S (2020–2021) – I’ve found some solid examples with 21” wheels and bigger brakes that feel close to the GTS but hard to find one with a warranty and many at local Porsche dealers are lemon buyback cars which cannot be leased but do have a warranty or at least the option to buy one. How crazy would a 3rd party warranty be? I’ve had one experiance and it was fine but definetly a hassle. Are there any you can really trust? Endurance?
Also…
And then there is the i5 M60 with Adaptive Suspension Pro which is really close dynamically (no so much on steering feel) and 25–50% cheaper per month leased. I know the Taycan is a different beast, but it’s hard to ignore the price delta, especially with how hard all of these electrics drop in value.
Appreciate any and all feedback—especially from anyone who’s cross-shopped these or been through something similar.
