OP’s address.
OP wants to drive car in Cali for a month, then take it to Colorado.
That’s one option. Or I might wait and ship directly from CA, NY or really anywhere I can get a better deal. I can’t find a Leasehackr broker with deals in Colorado.
Dealer did not care that my drivers license/legal residence is PA. They needed a CA address so we used my mothers.
OP, if your DL is CA you’re definitely SOL for doing the one trip permit.
I don’t want to bash Colorado but their idea of competitive is nowhere close to the deals that can be had outside the region. People tend to live in a bubble here and don’t bother to shop or deem it too inconvenient to purchase elsewhere so we’re stuck with less than enticing deals. The dealers don’t have to be competitive if people pay their asking prices.
As an example, the best deal I could negotiate out here on a 4runner TRD Pro was 6% off MSRP in October before some junk fees they added back in. Went to Georgia and got 14% off without the games. That’s no small amount even after including airfare and transport. If you can make it work by closing the deal in CA, would recommend doing that. Because CA doesn’t refund paid tax and registration, just ride it out for a year with those plates before registering here. There isn’t a snitch line here so enforcement is very loose as you’ll see many out of state license plates.
