Supported/Non-Supported Programs

,

TLDR: How can you find out if a certain vehicle is still supported by a leasing program?

Hey everyone. This is my first post and I’m relatively new to hacking leases, even though this isn’t my first lease. Just the first one I’m really trying to do right.

I’ve been looking at model year 2025 trucks (and particularly EV trucks) that perhaps dealers want to get off their lots. However, I’ve noticed on Rate Findr there’s an option to choose a supported lease structure or non-supported. I came across this while talking to a dealer about a 2025 Hummer. Discount was great but lease structure was no longer supported by GM Financial so it was a bust.

Is there a way to find out if a certain model/make/trim is no longer receiving financial support? If so, how do I do that?

Thanks in advance for any help.

(never mind)

Ratefindr shows info for 2025 Hummers, and there are responses w/ info in the Edmunds forum for 2025 Hummers.

Was it the dealer that said there was no lease support for 2025s?

Exactly. I was looking at one that had a steep discount and a decent residual. But the MF was .0048’ish.

When I explained that the MF was the reason we couldn’t do the deal, I said that I could just wait until GMF improves their program. That’s when he said they stopped supporting that program earlier this year. GMF was getting destroyed on an inflated residual.

I might be missing a key piece of why they stopped, but I do clearly remember him saying that’s why the numbers were as bad as they were even with such a steep discount.

Sounds like this is just a misunderstanding between you and the dealer of what is meant by “lease support”.

When we say a car has “lease support”, it means the bank is offering lease programs (any program) on the model. This is what paranoidgarliclover is referring to above.

The lease program may not be good, as is the case here, but there is still lease support because you can lease a 2025 model from GMF.

I’m guessing the dealer was just saying the lease isn’t “supported” any longer because the programs from GMF are not good on 2025’s.

Got it. It’s just weird because if GMF is still “supporting” leases, it’s actually a decent program. 75% residual with a relatively low MF (.001). The unsupported side of it was showing a 58% residual with a MF in the .004’ish range.

That said, it could just be confusion on my end and not understanding what they were getting at either way, it probably bailed me out because after joining LH, I’ve read Hummer trucks have had a lot of problems.

i appreciate the education on it though. It’s helping me put the pieces together so I can go to a dealer with understanding 85% of what a potential lease would look like

You still are misunderstanding. If there is a program with ANY published RV/MF, that means the vechile is still supported. Unsupported means there is no program, so you can’t even lease the vehicle.

Where is it showing up? As @Jon mentioned, you can’t have a model for a specific year be simultaneously “supported” and “unsupported” by the captive bank.

A captive bank will sometimes have subvented rates, but I don’t see that for the Hummer (at least in my zip).

When you say “unsupported,” do you mean a lease program through a different (non-captive) bank?
