I think you’ll have a hard time finding anything that beats a BMW 3 series for under 350/mo, if sporty sedan is the goal.
You could get a fairly mediocre discount on a base no-options 330i and still be under 350. Find a decent discount on a loaner or a car that’s been in inventory for awhile and you can get a well optioned one or even a base 340i.
Doesn’t sound realistic but I’d be happy to see what numbers you’re using.
The 3 series really that great to drive? I was reading on BMW forums, these current Gen 3 series are lacking
No, they are not. They’re just the cheapest cars that fit the “sport” sedan moniker. The cheapness is why you hear everyone on these forums harping on Q50 and 3-Series loaner leases, because those are the easiest to get cheaply.
I’m 100 percent positive if Audi was giving away A4 Premium Pluses between 350 and 400 a month, people would go bananas here.
Yeah I would get the Audi as well lol
Well, it is just about superior in every measure to the Q50/3-Series competition. Most people here can’t stomach the price difference however… 500/mo or higher for an A4 PP when you can get a similarly optioned Q50 for about 400. That’s a huge difference in price. I personally think the quality warrants the difference, but I know that I’m not in good company here.
It’s not about the “car” on these forums, it’s the price that matters.
As much as I would like to get the Audi and I would be willing to spend more for a Car a really want. At the moment 400 plus a month is to big of jump from having no car payment lol. I am probably going to go with a well equipped standard brand. The Mazda6 MF is pretty solid in my area.
Good move.
residuals dropped 5% from what I’ve seen
I know you said maybe the Stinger. What did the MF and Residual come out for you?
Ugh, I think 50 or 49 percent even and the MF was .0022.
That’s on a base GT at 10k miles a year for 48 months. So… pretty terrible by any standards, but I wanted the car, not the payment.
You’d be looking at the Stinger Premiums I’m guessing, so I wonder if the RV’s are better (probably not).
Just keep in mind, that’s what’s keeping the cars weighted down, that’s why I think Kia offered like 6k in lease cash to get Premiums out the door.
Was the deal overall better through a lease? At 48 months mine as well purchase it.
Yes and no. If taking a 37k loan was no thang for me, I would have absolutely financed for 5 years (payments would have been about 695 with interest), but I need something under 500 and I got greedy and made a poor decision on the actual deal. I shopped by near term monthly payments as opposed to the actual cost of the vehicle long-term. Poor financial decisions begat worse financial decisions.
The 3 series is definitely not what it used to be (certainly no longer deservers to be called an “ultimate driving machine”), but it kind of blows away it’s competition, meaning in the $300s a month leases.
Although, I find the modern A4 is just as bad in all the same ways. Plus the awd is more front biased and I find it quite noticeable.
I’m a big fan of the Mazda 6. I think it looks better than the germans too, though I hate the fwd part. Definitely test drive a Mazda 6 first. I’ve heard they can be kind of “lazy” feeling. Like you need to shift manually and really lay into the throttle to get that zoom zoom.
.
300/mo leases on a well optioned 330i aren’t nearly as easy to achieve as you make them sound. You can’t walk into any BMW dealer, pick out a 50k 330i and come out with a 320/mo payment with 0 das, especially now that MF is in the 4s.
I understand what your saying. We all make mistakes, including me lol
Subaru WRX? Just spitballing.
WRX are highest car to insure in my state. Plus I like them but not enough to paid a super premium on it
Right, but you can’t get any of the deals posted on these forums by just walking into any dealership and picking the model and options you want.
When I said “in the $300s” I meant between 300 and 400 a month, sorry for any confusion.
You need a roughly 8% discount on a stripped 330i to get to $350/mo with 3k incentives and BMWCCA. I haven’t actually put that into a calculator and I’m not adding taxes (since they vary so much), so apologies if I’m off by a couple bucks.
People on these forums regularly get 12% off inventory and 20% off loaners. That would pay for a few thousand worth of options and still keep the monthly around 350.
WRX is a sweet car if you don’t mind the NVH and plastic-y interiors. Harsh car to daily unless you’re okay with all of that.
