Subaru Outback Deal Inquiry

Looking at trading in my paid off Mazda6 for a lease on a 2020 Outback Onyx XT. I got a quote of the following:

$37652 MSRP
Selling 300 over inv $35,850
$2k from trade going toward vehicle (rest is a check back to me)
18000 miles per year/36 months
$482 per month

Is this a decent deal or should I keep shopping?

Keep shopping, but please read about leasing here. This deal is atrocious.

How much better do you think I can do? Is it the car that’s the problem or the dealer?

It is always a dealer. It should be $1,200-$1,500 under invoice to start with. Your high mileage doesn’t help. Start with Edmunds and see what at least MF is.

Thanks. I can probably get away with 15000 miles a year but want to make sure I don’t go over

Unless you need the Onyx, I think the Limited XT may have a better residual and MF. You can confirm over on Edmunds.

I was recently helping someone and got quotes as low as 11% off MSRP before any coupon codes on Outback Limited XT in the mid-atlantic region, so agree with @ursus - you can do better.

Should aim for $1500 under invoice or higher. Then stack coupons.
