Subaru Ascent or Outback. Mark up for out of area?

Got matched with a dealer about 50 miles away via True Car. Heard from the dealer who said they add 2k more to the MSRP for people outside of their marketing area. Is this typical? Never heard of anything like this before.

what car are you looking for?

Not typical but not extraordinary either. Certain brands penalized their dealers for selling out of region. If you are not happy make a counter offer. If they don’t take it move on.

Was looking at a Subaru Ascent or Outback

Was nice of them to let you know they didnt want to do business with you.

If you’re down to using a broker, check the one below. I see some percent off msrp on his links.

Subaru penalizes for out of region, but the range is 200 miles ish.

Basically, they are saying we just want to sell to local clients in their assigned area. So if you want this car, it has to be a homerun for them to sell it outside of their area.

The most laughable offers I’ve ever received have been through TrueCar. You aren’t their customer.

It doesn’t really matter exactly what verbiage anyone tells you. If the deal doesn’t work for you, move on.

You should be looking for dealers who honor VIP:
