I reached out to a broker I found on this platform but haven’t had much luck getting a response from them. Despite leaving several texts and voicemails, it feels like I’ve been ghosted. I was told they’d be sending me a quote, however I never received those quotes.

I then tried working with another salesperson and sales manager at that same dealership, but I’m getting higher quotes than expected and feel like they’re not serious about making a deal. What’s the best way to proceed and ensure a deal goes through?

It’s surprising because these are “sales” folks, yet they don’t seem interested in closing a sale.

This specific dealership has the specific loaner vehicle I’m looking for as well in making the numbers work.

Reach out to new brokers and keep looking for other cars that match your criteria.

If people aren’t texting you back they simply aren’t interested in your business.

the 1st issue is asking them to give you quotes. Do your research on what local data points are possible. Get buy rate MF and know what incentives you are eligible for. Draft a proposal and send to them with a note that you will sign this deal if accepted. No wasted time.

Or work with another broker. What make? Sam @ Autopia is awesome, and there are other solid LH brokers.

Thank you. I will do that. Perplexing to me though if someone is in sales and not wanting to close a deal or just communicate back stating they arent interested to sell. Pretty simple and professional

You spammed the broker then when directly to the brokers dealership?

If you trying to go around the broker to avoid broker fee, most likely neither him nor the dealership would take your business.

sorry if sounded judgmental - it was not.
My best guess - end of month (and end of the season for 2023 EQ\*), maybe they already sold it and don’t have another unit to replicate, so they just ignore such inqueries. If they took your money/deposit and don’t respond - it’s a problem, otherwise try to get someone else to play the ball.

I think buyers have preconceived notions about what to expect when they purchase a vehicle through a dealership or with an LH broker.

Similarly, consider auto-sales from the perspective of people on the other side. It’ll help you to understand that seasoned sales people (LH brokers and dealership in-house sales) will compartmentalize buyers into categories. These tactics help them to execute their honed sales workflow.

Since LH users tend to fall into the “I want a hella deal” category, it means the sales people catering to LH have to move on volume and the expectation the individual sale won’t blow up in their face and cost them metrics on their customer satisfaction survey.

For example, the type of person that will voice an opinion in a LH thread about their brokers and dealers will likely be the type of person to judge the sales process and leave a 6/10 on the survey. That is very bad for the salesperson. If the seasoned pro thinks for a moment that a particular “lowest price” customer isn’t worth the personal gain, they’ll move on.

Here’s a fun read about all the slang terms the sales industry uses.

[https://www.autocheatsheet.com/car-salesman-slang/car-sales-slang-lingo-terms.html](https://www.autocheatsheet.com/car-salesman-slang/car-sales-slang-lingo-terms.html)

The term “Russ” didn’t invent itself. It’s because hundred of thousands of a certain type of physical appearance wanting 30% off and buy rate came through thousands of showrooms. So if the sales manager thinks you are a Russ, you’re likely getting kicked to the low-paid sales associate or to the auto-AI bot.

I don’t know what is the contemporary slang term for a LH user, but it’s not going to be one that sales people are excited to negotiate with.

@thevolvoguy 's favorite slang term is PhD. Because he loves nepo-babies.

If you want a 2023 EQ\* you cannot be wasting time like this. Not with 3.5 business days left before they supposedly lose support.

Construct your target deal, run it by the forum and make lots of offers.

Interesting perspective. So the concept of Customer Service really only applies to the customer that wants to pay an inflated MF and above MSRP on a readily available vehicle. And people wonder why most customers hate the car buying process.

If the OP eventually finalizes a deal for the vehicle he is pursuing, does the dealership deserve a good score on the survey?
