oh I see it now in the middle of your message. Just because you put Ally at the top I got confused
Not sure how useful this date point will be because it was a few weeks ago, but my Dad sold his 2018 GMC Yukon 4WD SLT with 115,000 miles to ALGo. The car was accident free, but had a check engine light for a bad fuel injector. The light would go off when he filled it up with 93 and then come back on at about 1/2 tank. I had the interior detailed from the short haired great dane that shed a lot.
Given the high mileage, I knew this was going to be a straight to auction vehicle. The Chevy Dealer where he bought a new Tahoe RST offered us $20K. Carvana offered $22,600 ish, and Vroom $21,500 ish. Algo asked what I wanted for it and I told them $25K. They originally offered $24,600. I sat on it for a day and they came back and offered the full $25K. Sold.
The driver scheduled to pick the truck up from my Dad and didn’t show. He called my Dad and asked how late was “too late.” My Dad told the guy midnight. The guy shows up after 11:00 pm and plugs in a scanner (which I’ve never seen an ALGO or Carvana Driver do). It showed the error code. He said to my Dad: “since you waited for me and this is going straight to auction, I’m going to pretend I didn’t see the error code.” He handed my Dad a check and away he went.
Just got picked up today! Sold one to Algo. 4XE.
Carvana was real low. Dealers at 41,500 and 40,500. Vroom 44,236 which I accepted but they wouldn’t have bought anyway. Initial estimate for Algo was 40,500 but later they gave me 44,500. Feels good being a free agent!
Anyone had experience with selling ALGo and Audi Financial lease? I’ve sold to ALGo other cars before, but trying to see if Audi Financial’s lease buyout is significantly higher for ALGo as well.
Do they negotiate on price? Why did they raise it after they gave you your initial appraisal?
Not sure if they negotiate. When you put in info they give you an estimate, but they call with the real offer
Yes they do negotiate. It is all based on the MMR and their desirability to acquire the vehicle. In other words, if they are going to auction it then they will pay few 1000s less than MMR and many other factors. Or if they are going to retail it then they would be willing to pay as close as the MMR.
Honestly I always get terribly lowballed by Algo on everything
Anyone recently sold a vehicle to Algo? I want to sell my 2021 Lexus RX350L and so far they are coming in the highest from all the other offers. I have never sold a leased vehicle before so this would be my first time and what to know is the process pretty easy and straightforward with them. How soon can I complete the transaction and get my check? Also my lease is with TFS and if anyone can comment if the process was smooth with selling a TFS lease with Algo?
You can, but not sure if You have time for this. Noone knows what will be after July 18th.
I would sell to Carmax asap and ask them to overnight the check to LFS.
Finished selling out 2019 xc60 that I bought out from lease last year. Algo was super smooth to work with. I even had an issue on my end with a deal falling through for my next car and they were very patient with me.
Once I sent the contract, pickup was scheduled within a few days and check handed to me when the guy picked up the xc60.
Best part - netted over $8k in equity, on a Volvo! Worked out great for me.
Anyone currently in process of selling to ALGO?
Started process last week but officially Accepted offer on Monday and submitted all documents and photos. Still waiting for get contract. For all my past sales they’ve sent contract within an hour.
They did call the bank and get payoff on Monday but haven’t finalized contract yet. Every time I’ve called them they say everything is complete and I should have contract within an hour. When I asked for a manager, they said that president/owner of company is busy / out of office so there is a delay in approving deals.
Curious if anyone else has sold this week to them.
7K less than Carmax, Carvana for a Tesla… what a joke
Had my wife’s car picked up this morning. 21’ CX5 GT w/premium 23300 miles. Buyout was 23800, every other company and broker agreed it was worth around 22500, except Carvana that offered 24080. Algo offered 24100 originally. During the call with them I asked for 25 and we ended up settling for 24500. Signed the papers and got a text to arrange pickup two days later. Driver came right on time and handed over the check. It was still pitch black so he wouldn’t even really be able to see anything if there was anything to see. Pretty easy process overall.
Question is, how long do you guys keep the car on your insurance after it has been picked up? Guessing safest route is waiting for Mazda to get paid and account being closed.
You are done with the car, take it off your insurance. That is if you have all paperwork on hand.
Yep and at least in CA definitely electronically file transfer of liability with DMV online asap.
Bringing this thread back for an update.
Offered a 2020 Accord EX-L Hybrid to ALGO today. Their initial offer w/ 30K miles and no dings was $26,800. I call to move forward, they now tell me the website offer is inaccurate and that they can only offer $23K. I pushed back, the best they said they could do is $24K- we haven’t even done the virtual inspection yet. They even broke down their retail numbers and told me their retail selling price is $26,200- $600 less than what they were offering trade in to me on the site…
I sold a car with them 3 years ago and didn’t have any issues like this. Anyone else have this problem recently?
The website estimate is usually inflated. Shop it elsewhere.
Yea same experience. Sold 2 cars there and it was quick, now I tried pushing our Jeep GC 4xe and over the phone offer was 10% lower. I mentioned carvana’ss offer and they quickly pushed their offer up to match that.
It’s always inflated. But usually not 11% of their first offer inflated.
