Not sure when the Fuel is supposed to go bad, but my Volt has 12,000 miles after 1 year and still have about 250 miles left from the original tank from the dealer.
I may not need to fill up at all when I go return it after 3 years

So true. Can’ Agree with you more. I get around 60 mile range on ev mode (I drive like an old lady in Los Angeles area). And I love adaptive cruise control which saves my legs in everyday jammed traffic.
