In theory, it shouldn’t be an issue. Of course, it all comes down to your demeanor with them on your previous encounter alone. If you came in guns-a-blazin’ demanding 10.5% off before incentives, and you rubbed them the wrong way, it wouldn’t shock me if they turned you down anyways regardless of you now working with a broker on your second attempt. If they think you’re going to cause trouble or start demanding more once you come in to sign, they might not want to deal with the possible hassle and just say no.
Dealerships have a CRM (Customer relationship management) system that tracks both your and their encounters with notes, so that if sales guy A isn’t there when you come in, sales guy B can pick up where A left off. It also allows them to see if your claim that your salesman Billy offered 15% off less incentives has any merit. They track all your emails/conversations within this system.
Likewise, some of them even have software where they know your name just based on your email address (or phone number if you call in) even if you’ve never done business with them before and even though you don’t provide a name to them. There are companies out there that offer this software as a fraud prevention mechanism. In other words, it’s quite possible they know who you are before you tell them.
Not too many 2020’s left and the dealers who even have them are giving measly discounts (~16% off).
Most of them are your base $47-$49k units in black or white.
He’s better off looking looking at 21’s as there’s more inventory and has better choices to choose from.
I agree, and I’ll throw in that a 2020 is only worth it MAYBE if you have loyalty or corporate. Otherwise, you’re looking at $750 in rebates instead of $1,500.
Hi guys,
Thank you again for all of your input and advice. My final deal fell just short of my targeted 10% at 9.3%. I considered a demo but decided on a 2021 for android auto support. I also considered going through a broker at 11.5% plus broker fee and shipping, but the net price was very similar and this car is for my dad and he was more comfortable going through the local dealer. So not a unicorn deal or even a trophy wall deal, but I’m happy with it. Thanks again!
Hi everyone where can you see the current incentives? Everybody says Edmonds but where do you find it on Edmonds? How do you know if the dealer is telling you about all the incentives? People are talking about a $1500 lease incentive but nobody told me about that, I locked in for February and expecting them a delivery but dealer did not tell me about a $1500 incentive,. I ordered a M440 convertible
Thanks
Having current, accurate information for residual value, money factor, and incentives is important in understanding your deal. As such, going directly to a source that has access to that data from the captive banks is your best option. The forums at Edmunds are where we go to get that information, as they have direct access to it from the captive banks. You’ll want to post of the model specific thread for the vehicle you’re interested in and request the most current numbers for your zip code. It is often easiest to find that thread by searching Google for “Edmunds lease” followed by the model of vehicle you’re interested in.
