I helped my father sign the following at the end of February reading the Leasehackr forum (and Edmunds) for guidance. I don’t have all the numbers in front of me, but the key numbers are fairly accurate, in case the data is helpful for others. I know this is not the best deal others have secured, but was good enough to not warrant additional time for my father.
I did 95% of the process by email, though several dealers wanted to qualify the lead and move the conversation to phone which was quite annoying. This dealership had an excellent sales manager who was quick and efficient through the entire process once the discussion reached his desk. The total discount was over 24% and I got stuck with several dealerships closer to 15%.
**MSRP: $66K
**Selling Price: $50K (24.2% including $1750 fleet incentive which could not be stacked with manufacturer incentive)
**Monthly Payment: $515
**Cash Due at Signing: $0
**MSD: $4200 (max allowed) Incentives: Fleet (included above), waived disposition fee on prior lease, and two car services.
Months: 36 Annual Mileage: 10K MF: 0.0005 (before MSDs which took the MF down to effectively 0) Residual: 54% (before excess mileage deduction)
It wasn’t too bad - 4 days from searching to final deal.
I used Autotrader to do a search for all 2018 that looked like they would be loaners eligible for leases in the area. There weren’t that many so I emailed a manager and the Internet department on the specific models using the process people recommended here. Luckily, this dealer was already at a reasonable starting point on the car who didn’t waste my time and understood from my emails that I was ready to go and understood how leases worked.
I recommend setting up a separate Gmail and Google Voice account for anyone doing it on their own. The amount of spam I have received over the past month is incredible! And it is largely from the dealers that didn’t want to even propose a reasonable offer.
