This is definitely not a lease hack, and it’s probably not even Swapalease worthy, but it’s the best deal I could find in Texas for July.
I had an i7 for a year, and it was an amazing car. That one was definitely a lease hack. It had a $129k MSRP, a $997/month payment, 12k miles per year, and it was taken on Swapalease within a week.
I shopped Taycans for about six months but hated Porsche’s lease rates. At the same time, CPO values kept climbing because of increased demand and higher gas prices.
I had an XM as a loaner once and really liked it. I also found out BMW now has an additional loyalty incentive called GKL, which I qualified for since it had been 12 months since I swapped out of my i7. Total rebates on the XM for July came to $17,000.
So I figured, why not give it a shot?
I shopped about 10 dealers across Texas. Half gave me the upfront tax credits, while the other half insisted they weren’t available. When I pressed the issue, they admitted they didn’t really know why other dealers could apply them since they weren’t showing up in their system.
I got Grapevine down to an 11% discount off the front end. Their offer was $5k DAS and $1,540/month. My hard cutoff was $5k DAS and under $1,500/month. So I kept shopping…
On Thursday, I reached out to a Houston dealer, and we landed on this:
- MSRP: $161,620
- Selling Price: $144,100
- Rebates: $17,000
- Tax Credit Savings: $6,355
- Money Factor: .00190
- DAS: $5,000
- Payment: $1,488/month
After I agreed on the price, a resource told me the tax credits were technically blocked. However, the GSM called in a favor, and boom… we got them. They also gave me the buy rate money factor, which this dealer is known for never offering.
I know it’s not an earth shattering deal, but it’s a lot better than what the other dealers were quoting. Hopefully this helps anyone shopping for an XM in Texas.
