Got a local dealer to get me to the best price I negotiated elsewhere in the country. Took me a couple of months to get to this number, but I enjoyed the journey. Also, based on the feedback I got in my last post, I stopped asking for a “baseline” contract, and just started reaching out to SMs and GSMs directly with what I was trying to achieve. I’ve made at least a hundred phone calls… first I was seeking an X7, missed the boat on the 2025s, then I looked at XMs, too expensive, back to X7s, enlarged scope to X5s and X6s… even went back to 7 series, and then ended up really wanting an XM.

I got it new, not a loaner this time around (most dealers with loaners wanted >$127k before rebates) - although if you wait a few more months, those with loaners will have a decent amount of subsidies in them. Probably by winter, I would imagine one could get the XM at sub $1000/mo.

I wrote some crawlers (BMW dealer systems, Autotrader, Cars, Truecar) and an interface to make my life easier… I’ve been refining the interface over the last couple of months to suit my needs.

Shoutout to a couple of dealerships that were nice that I didn’t end up going through with: Laurel in Westmont IL (they got a 2026 760 still on the lot that will discount aggressively), Laurel in Johnston PA (get a good deal on a 2026 XM loaner) and BMW of Pompano FL (2025 X7 M60 loaner). Most everyone I talked to down South were super nice, Northeast was hit or miss, didn’t bother with the West of the country cause they’re weird about out of state deals.

Surprisingly, winner didn’t come from a high volume dealership - just nice people to work with locally here in Okemos MI… Bloomfield MI SM is also cool (that’s where I service my cars).

Polished my strategy for leasing a little bit in this process… no longer asking for contracts - deal menus are enough, I only had 1 or 2 dealers that actually asked for a copy of my best deal to beat, so now I agree with the folks that were berating me that my approach was overkill.

You’re the guy that had a whole strategy of just being awful to finance managers right? You had one draw up an entire contract when you had no intention of signing it. I like the kind of sort of admission we were right while still claiming we were berating you. Anyway, glad it worked out for you.

Nice to see a 2026 deal. They were not happening.

If you didn’t get a 24/25 year the entire process has changed.

But the xm still doesn’t have a ton of demand. So dealers will start to deal as the 27 line approaches as we see here.

I am patiently waiting for the GKL and lease cash to improve on the 2026s as the 2025 inventory dried up. Though the deals on the 2025s never came close to the 2024s so maybe the inventory is being managed much tighter after BMW learned their lesson with the surplus 2024s…

Basic economics really. If you have to throw half of a 330i in incentives to move a car, you stop building more than the market will bare.

Everyone asking for the software is funny. I could be wrong…but the design looks like it was built with AI (even the color scheme resembles what Claude Code would generate without telling it specific colors/patterns). Then again…who knows…I am just guessing ;D

This is amazing. This is nowhere near replicable in Texas right now, and we have sales tax credits this month. The lowest I’ve gotten is $1700. Enjoy it!
