Signed: 2023 C300 4MATIC Sedan, $779/mo, $0 DAS

That could only be bought by Acura/Honda dealer (or another brand who had one in their network), unless they bought it out. They may have left money on the table, but now they have new C300 smell to enjoy.

OP congrats and enjoy!

Lease buyout doesn’t seem viable. MBFS charges early termination fee. 4% of the buyout cost. Yet another way to be hosed, unless OP finds a used car loan unicorn.

OP is in VA? Why did you even consider lease in the first place.

I’ve never had to do the calcs b/f, but let’s see…

Lease cost = selling price - RV (very roughly)

Buyout = selling price - lease payments made (very roughly; I think)

But the point is that can’t just exclude things for convenience or b/c you want to… The VA taxes are mandatory and make leasing rather illogical.

Those are 2 diff models w/ 2 very diff base prices…

Is a buyout considered an early termination?

Yes. Why would I have brought this up otherwise.

At that rate, what about eating the cost of early termination?

Also OP, this is maybe a painful deal in the LH world. But in the real world, tons of people sign deals like this all day every day. Don’t beat yourself because you didn’t hit a homer like a major leaguer.

B/c other dealer blogs indicate that the early termination fee is $200-$500 (not sure when the blog was written), which is different than 4% you wrote.

But even if 4%, that’s $1600. MF is effective 7+%. I don’t think OP would need a unicorn used car lease (depending on their credit) to be able to make up for that. JMO.

Only thing that people aren’t saying to the OP here is essentially yelling ā€œfire!ā€ in a crowded theater. What you have here is your proverbial spaghetti sandwich. No matter what it’s going to be messy.

Sure. Feel free to trust some random dealer blogs.

Have you seen market rates for used car loans these days?

If you’re a broker or dealer or have recently done an MB buyout, that would be helpful info to know.

Until I know that info, then, yes, I am going to trust a random dealer blog more than I trust an internet stranger who joined the site less than a year ago. ::shrug::

There’s a whole thread on that here.

And here are the rates at the credit union at which I’m a member.

https://www.ucu.org/Learn/Resources/Rates/Auto-Loan-Rates

I haven’t done the calcs, but, if OP can find similar rates (and maybe they can’t), I assume it would make more sense to refinance and absorb the early termination fee. Do you not agree w/ that conceptually?

AFAIK @parkville is correct that there is a 4% penalty for early buyout. Another reason why there is no real exit for EQS deals, you have to ride it out.

I’m flattered that you took the time to look at my profile. Unfortunately, that time would have been better spent if you used the search box up there instead. This topic has been discussed multiple times here.

The link you posted is indeed a very competitive product. It may make sense if OP plans to own this long enough and can navigate through the buyout process and the sales tax consequences.

You are calculating it incorrectly. Buyout is remaining depreciation+residual. So buyout is somewhere around $51k+4% penalty, fees+ tax(but apparently there is a way to get around this).

You do not pay unrealized rent charge on buyout.

Last post from me about you: do you want to cool it w/ the attitude?

The early lease termination may have been ā€œdiscussed multiple times here,ā€ but I don’t follow every thread here. And when I entered it into the search box just now, I still couldn’t that information easily with the first few hits.

I could say the same thing about your lack of knowledge regarding the CU thread. Is that really the game you want to play?

At any point earlier in this thread (including when I first asked you about it), you could’ve simply said, ā€œIt’s already been discussed here multiple times,ā€ which would’ve been a truly helpful answer. But you choose to give a snarky response. If you want to give, you better expect to get.

Thank you for your civility.

Thanks for criticizing my attitude after an unsuccessful attempt to dispute the information I had shared. Had this conversation started in a different manner, I would have missed an opportunity to reflect my attitude.

Wait, u are only a member at one credit union?

AFAIK not all MBFS leases carry the 4% early termination penalty but rather it’s dependent on the state. OP would need to check their contract to see if it’s included or not.

My MBFS lease started in IL definitely has it, but I’ve seen others that don’t.

I looked at the membership criteria for some of those listed on the super thread (the rates which still aren’t as good as my own local one… heh), and I was like, ā€œOh, there’s NO way in hell I’m becoming a memberā€¦ā€ But customer service is not great at my local one, but you literally get what you pay for, in this case.

Thank you for the insight and positivity.

No I declined all the aforementioned. All the details are in the Signed Leasehackr link I posted at the top initially. The cap cost is at 47,230. I’m also a Navy Fed customer so it’s appearing the more I’m seeing/learning from most at this point is my best bet being to buyout the lease with my CU.
