My guess is that the boat is actually full. It was heading from Mina Rashid to Iraq - and the UAE is my best guess of a stopping point for RORO cargo heading into Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
Absolutely, I almost guarantee no new US-Spec cars were on this boat.
Interestingly, just drove past a bunch of dealers in Atlanta. Of course most had mainly used cars but the Volvo dealership I used to service at had a ton of cars out there. Especially XC90’s…never seen so many. Checked the inventory and showed a whopping 70 XC 90 and total of 130 SUV’s in stock. What is Volvo doing differently? In any case I can PM you dealer info. Maybe the extra inventory can work a little more in a buyer’s favor in this crazy market.
PS: and I forgot…the Maserati dealer had a lot of cars too
Volvo has been relatively spared the carnage so far. they did have a few hiccups in q3/q4 of last year, but have been relatively ok the last little while. couple that w absolutely awful programs and dealers selling 30-40% fewer new cars, and you have some inventory build.
Buying. They said that it was built right before the Ukraine invasion, so it will arrive mid-April. About 2 months ahead of schedule. We were quite surprised.
Everyone can use some good news in times like these. I have been keeping track of the local (50 mile radius of my house in urban North Carolina) new car inventory for all dealers since December. New car inventory this week had the biggest uptick I’ve seen since 2021. It’s not much, but moving in the right direction:
