RV more than purchase price? 2024 Genesis G80 Electrified

Turns out that dealer discount only applies to financing :frowning:

Shame since I’ve been talking to the sales rep for two weeks now about leasing this vehicle. Just shows some of them don’t really know much.

FWIW, I prefer dealing directly with either the internet manager or the sales manager.

Should I just ask for them off the bat when calling the dealership for the first time?

Not sure how much research you did, but you should have known what rebates were applicable to leasing and then put together a deal.

Did you request an online price quote? Did you receive any email or communication from a sales manager/manager?

EDIT:

How many miles on it?

I’m confused. How did you go from the below that was from a sales person, and then proceed to having them run your credit, to then and only then find out you can’t lease it for this price?

500 miles.

I did know the rebates. The rebate I researched was applied. It was the dealer discount that was listed on their website that was not applied.

The salesperson evidently didn’t know what he was doing. In the two weeks we were in communication, all it took was for him to mention the lead to his manager and then he would quickly learn the car was ineligible to lease.

Are there any purchase incentives applicable to the car this month?

Is it because it was a loaner or did lease support end in May?

Maybe you can work out a crazy purchase deal.

  1. I’ll have to check tomorrow morning about new incentives.

  2. Because it is a loaner. I asked about this on my initial call and was told it can be leased. Unfortunate.

  3. Possible, but would rather lease since its my first EV and the tech is getting better in future years.

So the salesman provided you with the quote you posted above or you did that on their website based on the discount? It’s extremely unlikely the salesperson put together the quote themselves, especially Hyundai/Genesis, they are generally done by the sales mangers.

I did not do it. The salesman provided it to me on Friday.

Do not call them tomorrow. Go to the dealer’s website and look up their staff’s contact info. Find the email addresses of the Internet Sales Manager or Sales Manager. Send them the lease proposal that was emailed to you.

If they can sell you the car for $30k (I doubt they will agree), would you finance it or pass?

Would you have access to charging? Or do you plan to rely on public charging?

If you go the purchase route confirm the terms of the manufacturer’s warranty. Is the clock already ticking?

Any update?

That $30k number was fictitious because the salesperson combined retail and lease incentives

24.5k lease incentive expired. No other incentives.

Yeah. I tried verifying this in the beginning and he told me otherwise.

So what’s your next move? Any other cars you are interested in?

G80 Electrified, GV70 Electrified, and Cadillac Lyriq are the models I’m looking at. Going to hold off until a good deal comes around. I still have my 2011 BMW 328x that drives well enough.

According to LH ratefindr calc, it’s back (or still there) at least for my zipcode.

Whatever you decide, you should sign up for ratefindr in order to see the programs and rebates that apply to you. Stop asking dealers to verify/for quotes, make offers.
