I’m in Washington state and while working on a Mercedes lease I was told that I had to pay acquisition, doc, and state fees (registration, etc…) upfront and couldn’t roll them into the payment. This was news to me and when I asked why, he said that’s how has always been and has never worked in a place that allows you to roll them into the payment.
Am I wrong in assuming I could roll them in? And if I wasn’t wrong, is there a reason why a dealer would want me to pay upfront?
You are not wrong, you can structure the deal however you want. No idea why this dealer wouldn’t do that unless the sales rep just had no idea what he was talking about. Every lease I’ve ever done has been $0 DAS or just first month’s payment with everything else rolled in.
Have you checked in @BENZORNOTHING page in the marketplace? It’s a MB Dealership in Wilsonville, OR who has a page on here and will seemingly accommodate hackers.
Sales isn’t always truthful or knowledgeable sadly. Reasons why could be so many. Could have known/not known. Could be scared if showed you a monthly with rolling everything in you would run. Who knows. Better strategy to make offers to wide net of dealers with your target offer already prepared.
This was actually a sales manager. After I gave them the counter the manager called me and proceeded to tell me everything they couldn’t do including this tidbit about rolling payments.
It doesn’t mean that it cannot be done the way you said. Just show him one quote from different dealer with just first payment DAS. If you ask for one pay lease he will start screaming at you LOL.
Let me guess, if you show him that, he will say that this is fake.
Coming from the industry, there are a lot of sales managers out there who are dinosaurs when it comes to tech. I’d bet this sales manager simply doesn’t know how to input the deal with 0 due at signing into the DMS and is coming up with a song and dance as to why you can’t do it.
