Hey all, new to the forum and looking to lease a Wrangler 4xe (California). I have a 2015 1500 Laramie that unfortunately has the hemi tick at 149k miles. It isn’t the manifold bolts, I’ve owned the truck since new and have done those already. It developed a misfire and I parked it after some troubleshooting. At minimum, if I can find a shop to do it, it’ll need a new set of lifters, a cam, head gaskets etc.
Am I better off trying to get this repaired as cheap as possible before trading or would I lose less trading to a Dodge dealer as-is? I’m having trouble finding someone to do the work locally as I’m a bit rural too, so that’s a factor.
It’s on, misfire in cylinder #5. I tried a new plug and swapped the coil pack with another cylinder to rule those out. That’s all the troubleshooting I’ve done. The quotes from ebuyers aren’t too bad with reported CEL on.
That’s what I’m wondering, is it common for dealers to take in their own brand as-is that need repair because they can get it done cheaper and possibly make a little more? Even if it was slightly more of a hit vs repair first it might be worth the time savings.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s carmax or a CDJR dealer. At 150k miles 99% guaranteed they don’t want it for their front lot and will just dump it at auction.
Is the mileage allowance of a lease going to be enough for you?
