I’m trying to assume someone’s lease. The car is now being leased in NJ and I reside in DC. I just got approved by US Bank and now I have to complete the remaining paperwork.

I’m really confused by what I’ll need to register the vehicle and what I’ll need to get for US Bank for the assumption packet I send back.

US Bank mentions in the instructions that if the DMV requires a copy of title, they’ll have to put in a request. DC does require a copy of the title. When do they put in the request? I can’t just call the DMV to get them to do that.

Also mentioned is that if I have to pay any upfront taxes I’ll need of a receipt to show that I have. This is for the lease assumption documents. So, I’ll have to pay taxes before I send the packet back?
Not sure how I would even do this. I included a copy of the instructions.[thumbnail\_IMG\_1607|375x500](https://forum.leasehackr.com/uploads/short-url/lqjLRO36faS2ACOU0hOHa9BP9ND.jpeg)
