RE: Lease Transfer

You will continue payments. But it’s up to you to get the car back if they don’t give it to you freely.

You have all of the responsibility of co-signer with no benefit except someone else officially paying. As long as they do.

Why would the guy trashing his credit by defaulting on his payments want to return the car to either you or Audi?

It’s now a free car!

I explored the same scenario when my wife got tired of her Q5. Ultimately there is just far too much risk involved with giving a stranger the keys to a liability that you are responsible for. If you can trade it in for a 15k mileage lease on an A4 (with Audicare) it will still be far less than your current lease, no mileage penalties, and no financial risk from 3rd parties. Or save a fortune and get a 2018 3 Series if you don’t have to stay with Audi.

There was a post here last year about someone who had lease swapped their Infiniti to another person and ended up getting the vehicle back because the other person couldn’t make the lease payments. It does happen unfortunately.

Got it thanks for the response.

I just figured i don’t mind making payments on the car if it is returned to me. But if the guy defaults on 3-4 payments before that happens, I just don’t want it hurting my credit score - even if I have to pay them.

Either way, I’m leaning against doing this. Thanks

good choice, don’t do it. You’re better of putting it on TURO if it’s allowed with Audi.
