By paying $59k for 3 years, you are paying way more than the depreciation. So how did you benefit from the transaction?
If Virginia is like most states and gives a tax break on the next car by trading in, that’s another benefit you lost out on.

OP paid first month on top of the $5,000.
$6,541 DAS + 35 * $1,541
No doubt the “rent charge”, additional fees, and sales tax made it more expensive. But some of that was offset by the discounts I received off the purchase price.
Thanks.
Honestly, if you can afford $1,600/month to lease a $90k car every 3 years, I do not think this forum is for you. You did not get horribly ripped off if your goal was to lease an X5 for 3 years…it is just a bad car to lease and a bad lease by the standards of this forum (it is called lease hackr).
Yeah, you could have saved some money by going through a broker on here, but I do not think 3-4% more off MSRP is the kind of money that is important to you if you are this resistant to financing.
Very good reply running-strawberry. I think you’re spot on. Thanks!
I just wanted to provide the final status on my lease. I just spoke to the dealership and the CPA, INC $1899 has been removed from the contract. They are also going to refund the overpayment on the 1st month’s lease payment (2 payments made rather the one). So that’s an over $3,000 reduction to the lease contract. I’m happy. Of course I still realize that the X5 isn’t the best vehicle to lease but I can live with that.
Thanks to everyone that offered their feedback.
Glad to see you got a satisfactory resolution ![]()
