Questions: Infiniti QX60

Does wear and tear insurance actually cover normal tire wear?

Here is my plan doc for exclusions…

Where in the plan doc did you see that? I posted my exclusion page from the same contract and tires are not listed as an exclusion.

This is correct for most of this kind of package. Normal wear is not covered. When your tires got damage, they will prorate the life left for the tires only.

But you should double check. If they really cover tire wear, then $840 is a really good price.

It depends on quite a few things. Driving habit, horse power of the car, weight of the car, weight distribution are a few items. With QX60 kind of weight, power, weight dist, needing new set for 39 months is very likely.

As @cheapdad00 said, at month 38, I may drive around construction sites and ruin my tires/rims. Or mistakenly drop a box full of nails right before my wife drives out. Also, unlimited key replacement is pretty good; I’ve lost keys before and they get expensive.

Attached is the plan they showed me:

You probably don’t drive like an asshole. Remember this is also 12k

If the policy covers, great. If not, I am sure you are not the first person thought of the 38 month trick. Just be careful, you don’t want to pay for the package and count on the trick, then get denied.

  1. third party company that may not exist in 3 years (although BBB says 25 years experience)
  2. First bullet under tire section states “…when damaged by a road hazard”

what was the asking price at the beginning of negotiations? go 50% of that because markup is normally huge on those plans. Oops, may be too late…

Trust me from experience on a pathfinder (same vehicle) in 36k went through 2 sets and purchased a used set for turn in. This was 235 55 20. The infiniti runs the same Bridgestones. My wife drives normal. You’ll go through at least one set, probably 2.

We’ll see. But as an FYI, just picked up a new QX60 and it has Toyo tires, not Bridgestone.

Must be 18s, maybe they’ll last longer

2 sets of tires in 39/10k or 12k lease?? Doesn’t sound normal to me. If you run through a set in 15k miles, you have a heavy foot on both gas and brake paddle.

I know, wouldn’t sound right to me either. The oe tires which have no mileage warranty only lasted 12k. I complained and the dealer/Nissan gave half off for about 500. The second set of Bridgestones lasted 20k and we limped through to the end on a set of used from Craigslist until lease turn in. Our new QX60 has the same Bridgestones so we’ll see…

I am with 1400 miles now. I will keep this in mind wil report back

18” or 20” wheels?

I’ve owned a couple of Infiniti’s with Bridgestone’s. Never got more than 20k out of them. It’s best to rotate them regularly as they seem to wear out so fast. Not sure why Infiniti keeps using these tires but a salesperson at the dealership once told me that the Bridgestones tested the best when rating braking, handling, etc…for spec purposes. Not sure if that’s BS or not. My question is, when leasing do you have to replace the originals with the same tires, or can you go with a different brand?

Usually they just have to be the same spec, size speed rating etc, they don’t even have to match. As long as they are the right spec and above the stated tread level, you’re usually good. The manufacturer puts whatever name brand tire is the cheapest, and they usually don’t last long. I imagine that they go with Bridgestone since they are Japanese.

At lease turn in they have to be OE size and all the same tires. Reputable brand too.
