Question on getting payoff for an Audi lease

Audi will not give me the lease payoff for a dealer over the phone or through my online account. They told me I needed to have the dealer go through Openlane to get a payoff. Anyone here familiar with openlane and have an account.

No Audi dealership within 100 miles of me, so I went to my local VW dealership and they were able to get me the payoff that they would pay. Their dealership network does include an Audi dealership just not locally, so I am assuming this is the payoff for anyone with an Audi dealership. I was told that the payoff for a non-Audi dealer is probably different. Assume I am dealing with Carvana, Carmax, etc, can someone lookup the payoff for me on openlane.

Thanks,

Steve

I believe for Audi the only payoff amount that is set in stone is the lessee’s. If selling to a dealer they basically mark it up to current value making it hard to capture equity. Others chime in that have dealt with this.

The method used to calculate your lease payoff is in your Audi contract. If you like, I can calculate it for you if you PM me and post your lease agreement.

Thanks for the offer. I have a spreadsheet setup using the method you posted a long time ago on calculating the lease payoff. That works perfectly to get my payoff. What I am unable to figure out is Audi makes a “fair market” adjustment to the buyout for non Audi dealers. No idea what that is without going through Openlane.

Local VW dealer gave me my payoff, which does not include taxes, of $87,746. I calculated $87,350.49 + $395 fee = $87,745..49. No problem there.

They also included the dealer payoff as $87,946. What I couldn’t get them to tell me was if this was good for any dealer on only dealer networks with an Audi dealership.

If I understand what you are trying to do, Audi/VW financial does not allow 3rd party buy out. However, you could technically purchase it via a VW dealer since it’s part of the same financing arm.

Sounds like an Etron GT, aren’t those heavily underwater?

Good question, it is a 2025 S e-tron GT. Very little sales information on them. I have only seen one used online and it was listed for $99k. Not sure how a dealer would come up with a value. The 2025 S model has more power and a bigger battery than the previous generation RS GT. The only thing I can think of as a comparison is a 2024 RS etron GT and those are going for an average of $70k.

Become a super supporter and ask for the MMR. You’re likely wasting your time.

There’s no need to buy it out because once these hit the market they are going to be below the residual. Unless you know the dealer, it’s not going to make sense to purchase from lease contract.

Those don’t move the needle much. And you’re coming up against two hurdles if you’re trying to sell this:

A. With insufficient data, many buyers won’t even make an offer. Their algorithms will spit out “N/A” in other words.

B. Many such buyers won’t buy Audi FS leases.
