I’m trying to negotiate the price on a 2017 Pacifica Touring-L before incentives to get my base for calculating some payments. I have 14 different dealers, and 6 have responded. 5 of them are all hovering between $34,600 and $36,600. One has offered $32,361 before incentives. (MSRP ~$37,000). When I told some of the dealers about the lowest price, they all said that there is no way they’ll price the car that low, and that it’s not worth my time to go out there. (the lowest price dealership is about 35 minutes away.)
I’ve corresponded with the dealership multiple times, confirming the price and the other parts of the offer. Is $32,600 an impossibly low price for a Touring-L before incentives? Is this a scam?
I’m in Long Island NY.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. I have an appointment with them on Friday.
Edit: oops, read your comment wrong. I was trying to see if @Xebec01 can share his deal if he signed. At this point I am just shopping for a good value mini van or 3 row SUV. No preference for brand. Just a good value car for around $400 price point.
I did wind up getting the the Pacifica. The price they sent me was a “mistake”, but they did wind up about $1k less then everyone else before incentives, so I purchased from them anyway. They also stumbled upon another $1k incentive that I qualified for when trying to add the order to the computer.
I decided to purchase the car instead of leasing it after all of that.
One thing will note for people with Costco membership: I went to 8 different dealerships, contacted 16 via email and did tons of work to get the price I got; about one month of back and forth with all of these dealerships. As part of that research, I checked out the Costco membership no haggle price at one dealership. It wound up about $1k over what I paid with all of that work. If your time is short and you need a good price on a car, it might be worth it to check out the Costco price.
