Port Strike Impact on Auto Industry

Seems very suspect that the admin wouldn’t invoke Taft Hartley to require the 80 day cooling period so that this gets pushed off till after the election

I hate seeing this. They’ll get something to get them back to work eventually, but moves like this push employers to invest in automation….

And I certainly see it from the perspective of the labor union but from what I am reading, the USMX gave a pretty compelling offer on Monday which was quickly shot down.

At such a critical time, to have this union hold the country hostage this way is pretty terrible.

Lol yeah, the “expert” they had on the news this morning was blaming Biden and Harris for not intervening and stopping the strike.

They can’t stop it but they can delay it. It is not politically expedient when you are trying to win over the union vote. At the same time, letting it prolong and having an adverse effect on the economy is also not ideal. So they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. But they should totally invoke TH so that the consumer doesn’t suffer.

Lol what car are you going to be delayed getting?

You should tweet Walz and tell him the stoppage is making @li8625 have no shot at a GT3 RS.

I’m so mad right now. I’m so close to saying screw it and selling everything and just grabbing a 911…

Just get a VW beetle … same thing as 911

I hope your car gets lemoned.

I’m mad cause I’m being pressured to go back to work so I can afford 911 Turbo S instead of M lites. I WAS HAPPILY SEMI RETIRED AT 30 YEARS OLD BEFORE I PARTICIPATED IN THIS FORUM DANGIT

We got word from BMW that anything that has been offloaded from a boat will be delivered to a dealership. Anything that is still on a boat or that has yet to ship…good luck for now.

Good luck is right. The backlog can takes weeks or months to clear…

We were told something similar. Anything unloaded will be processed as normal but they do not expect the strikes to negatively affect incoming vessels and this month’s sales targets.

Really? I’m reading that the backlog of vessels will be weeks to months to process depending on when the workers go back. Maybe it’s different for vehicle transport? Baltimore is closed so are they rerouting to a different port?

Also just read that Florida is deploying the National Guard to assist in operations at affected ports. Hopefully other states will follow suit
