Porsche 911 and BMW 850 Limited Inventory

Hello Forum! My first post and enjoying what I’ve seen so far. Avid leaser, every 2-3 years.

I’m in search of solid 911 and/or m850xi (coupe or convertible) lease deals in Southern California BUT inventory has been horribly low due to obvious reasons (factory shutdowns). It appears there’s no deal to be had/made as a result.

Is anyone seeing the same phenomenon with Porsche, Audi and BMW? Any recommendations on dealers with solid inventories around the country?

Thanks.

Quick nationwide search: I see 344 Porsche 911s and 78 M850s

Thanks. Sorry, meant to clarify here. Based 911 Coupes…Sub 120K. Plenty well above $140-150k. Fortunately, the 992s are coming decently optioned (Chrono and/or driver’s assistance).

In general, Porsche’s don’t lease well in any circumstance. Often times you can buy one for about the same payment as a lease. If you’re looking for the best lease from a price standpoint the BMW will probably be the way to go.

Absolutely right. OP is you’re wondering why, combination of high MF and no incentives and average discounts create a perfect storm for a poor lease value.

To chime in, I am in the same boat as you and have seen the same things with Mercedes, Audi, and Volvo. E.g.:

1). Either selling at MSRP or very low discount (1-3%) pre-incentive

2). Depending on the options, dealers are adding other expensive packages / unnecessary options to the sticker, hence driving up the price significantly.

3). Marked up MF

When I did ask if there’s room for negotiation (I am not even asking for double digits discount), I have multiple dealers giving me cold shoulders or just straight up stopped responding.

I am still looking for a decent deal because my lease is up in 2 months, but with dealers acting this way, I may just have to bite the bullet and get a Tesla. At least I don’t have to pay $$$ for unnecessary options and I save $$$ on gas.

Damn, this is disappointing, I also have a Merc lease ending soon. I may just get some consumer brand this time around than lock myself into 36 months of a bad deal with a luxury brand.

OP just step up to an M8. There have been a few great deals posted lately and in the marketplace.

A base 911 would come in significantly higher than an m8. Just saying

You can get a 911 lease for a nice monthly. So long as you want to do $15-20k down and drive 5k miles.. Always cracks me up when a Porsche salesperson says “You can lease the base Macan (~55k msrp) for $239 p month with 10k miles. Long pause, inceptions fees title and down payment total $13k”.

Wait till you look at Miller Motor Car specials and the chunks of change they have listed.

Theres levels to the game… I definitely agree that buying a porsche makes more sense than leasing one. I looked for a 718 a few months back but couldn’t convince myself of paying $1100 for a 75k 718 across 84 months. I’d also look into the BMW as they lease much better and you can transfer it if you get into an uncertain situation or just don’t like it a few months down the road.

Well, I did exactly that so I have something to drive. I finished my lease on my Velar (I was an early delivery of a 2018) and bought a 2017 Fiat 500e for $7500 as a daily!

Bought a 981 back in March 2015 for 51k with 13k miles on it. Had a blast and put some 15k miles/year on it. Had 2 NAF incidents - was a bit gutted after the first since I knew the value took a hit (and back then I didn’t know about diminished value claims), but after it got totaled out by Geico in the second incident last year in mid-2019, they paid out 42k (though they initially offered 34).

Assuming you know your way around the maintenance department and stay accident free (or at least NAF), these can end up with a pretty low cost of ownership over time thanks to them holding their value well!
