After shipping and “only” $425 doc, that kills the value compared to a tad bit of legwork in the area.
Swickard - like BMW Lynnwood. Could go either way.
Idk about kill. If the x3 costs 55k , shipping is probably 1000-1500, it’s 2-3% of discount which compared to what the pac nw dealers are offering, still prob a bit better.
Dealer situation there does seem wild in general. I feel like I read this situation over and over where the deals are just terrible. somewhat of a cartel type situation
PNW sounds a lot like New England. Strong demographics like average income, etc. Low competition due to only a few dealer groups controlling most stores.
So definitely not a buyers’ market but still possible to get deals
Colorado is also in it’s own little market island as well.
It’s easy to say just buy out of state and ship but buying w/trade has it’s advantages locally, namely 10% of the trade value as tax savings in WA. It’s also a one and done transaction so easier and more convenient. My trade values is ~$25k, a tax savings of $2500, roughly 4% on a $57k X3. Add a broker’s fee of around $800, about 1.5%, and shipping around $1k, another 1.5% and suddenly that out-of-state brokered deal of even 12% discount doesn’t look so great.
You could make up the difference by selling private party.
The idea used to intimidate me, but I’ve now done it four times. If you price it correctly you’ll only have to endure a couple of actual test drives.
It’s much easier than most people think, and if you want, for $99 you can outsource everything you may not know how to do (including fraud avoidance).
Ok so what’s the problem? Even a 5% off new deal would be comparable or better than a 12% off broker one given what you listed and no hassle of shipping and etc.
all the dealers want msrp?
In many instances, MSRP plus dealer adds and rate markup.
Knowledge is power; just looking for insight on actual deals in my area before submitting an offer and starting negotiations. Anecdotal evidence suggests there’s no deals to be had up here but simply hoping to find out what deals have been done. Nearing year end, dealers may be a little more willing but so far, there’s nothing to go on. Sentiment is simply “no deals in PNW, buy elsewhere and ship” and so that’s the data, no local deals. Not one post here has anything to do with a signed deal in the PNW.
Struggling with this too. Very tempted to go with a high incentive EV lease from a manufacturer (eg lucid), depending on how early Dec incentives look.
What did you end up doing?
I’m sitting tight and hanging onto my SQ5 for the time being. Among other reasons, I’m not a fan of the interior designs where everything is buried in screens now, which was one factor. That’s not likely to change, so still going to have to accept it at some point but happy to stick with the Audi for now. When I do buy it will probably be used again, something less than a year old with low miles, which is what my last 3 purchases have been.
A friend of mine got a new X5 a little over a year ago, and hates it for this reason.
Some of it is definitely unwillingness to adapt, but some of the concern is also legitimate.
I don’t expect she’ll have it for much longer, and she’s hinted that we may be Cayenne shopping soon.
Are you wedded to the idea of a BMW?
Wilsonville MBZ in Oregon has some fantastic lease deals going right now with their 2025 loaner/Demo SUVs that they are looking to get off of .
A lot of them are getting taken but they still have some left
