Paint Protection Film

Looking to see if anyone has first hand experience with protection film, specifically on the front end of a vehicle or just a leased vehicle in general.

The black paint seems to be extremely easy to scratch on my car & bug “season” here in the northeast leaves it absolutely covered after a trip down the highway. I haven’t found a great way to remove all of the guts without needing to do some scrubbing with a soft pad and bug remover. Even this is scratching up some problem areas (primarily painted plastic) that I have since used a Meguire’s Wax on for a reasonable improvement. I am concerned about this continuing & then potential issues come winter with salt spray, snow brushes, etc. affecting other areas.

I don’t need to keep it in show room quality, I just want to prevent issues at turn in. I appreciate any recommendations or insight. Thank you!

Have you tried any ceramic paint coatings

+1 for ceramic, neighbor did it on his Porsche Macan and Q7, and water just beads off with dirt.

I’ll look into the ceramic coating. Thanks for the tip!

It doesn’t even have to be necessarily an expensive coating.
Meguiars has a ceramic spray wax for $15
buy that with the ceramic spray detailer.

I think a ceramic spray wax is a great idea.
I treated my car with the Meguiar’s ceramic spray wax a week ago. Drove through pouring rain, and I just had to spray some parts of the car with the ceramic spray detailer to make it look brand new again.

It was fairly easy to do, and now the whole car looks like glass, as you can see below.

This is what I used to initially wax the car: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Meguiar-s…iABEgJCUvD_BwE

This is what I use for touch-up cleaning: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Meguiar-s…iABEgKhuvD_BwE

No water marks after rain storms, and bugs don’t get caked into the paint. Are removed almost immediately with the detailer spray.
All in all the total cost of product was $30, so I am not complaining.

Great suggestion! Definitely appealing to the budget as I was worried about some of these coatings or wraps running into the hundreds of dollars for a small area.

I use a couple Meguiar’s products every so often and I’ve always been more than satisfied with the results so for $30 I’ll try it out. That’s a great looking M3 by the way. Always makes me happy to see nice cars without a license plate plastered to the front.

The ceramic coatings are cheap and you can apply them yourself as well - just YouTube it. It’s more than enough for a lease.

Just make sure you clay and do a polish before applying.
