Well, itās a car forum, so I get the brand flexing and dck thonks, but I also think any brand that is still around in the US, has pretty much proven their metal, save for factory issues like panel gaps, etc. edit and of course software (Carplay/Android)
I donāt think theyāve proven anything at all. All the high end cars are not selling that well, and the low end ones are supported by nothing but taxpayer money. Tesla exists the same way our current market exists, with nothing but government support.
It is highly disappointingā¦we used to have (or believed) the moral high ground and sneered at other countries for their subsidized crops/industries, yet here we are. Regress, not progress. I think it might help explain the Musk messiah complex though, a story that seems on the surface to be āamericanā, a singular saviour. If you like Mars.

To be fair if it wasnt for the government support, the big 3 would arguably not exist today. (Maybe except Ford who sold off their stake in other manufacturers).
Many businesses are built on government aid but IIRC Tesla has repaid their loans.

Tax credits, sales tax removal, a ton of other things. And now that they are done bleeding CA dry, they took their toys and going to TX.

Many did, many pivoted and survived or did better. Thatās how business works in general. The only difference is that government will never trip over themselves to bail out small business.
