Nissan is so cooked, has 12 to 14 months of survival left

I totally understand as a general rule type thing. Sometimes it’s a cash flow, operating cash level type thing.

I guess it’s always a case by case basis thing.

Funny, I had bought 3 Nissan’s back in 2013-2019. I messaged my sales guy local and said I would want something close to 300 0DAS and he said absolutely nothing he could do or even come close to for that. I was shocked. Now I’m even more shocked to see you having those kind of offers. Makes me wonder what some of these local dealers are really doing…

My gut btw is that a Nissan sells a massive stake to a strategic investor, likely a honda or Toyota. After that, I’m pretty sure infiniti goes away. Nissan threw infiniti dealers a bone this year by increasing margin, which is how you’re able to get to the payments you see on lh, but it’s a band aid on a bigger inherent problem - there really isn’t much demand for the product. The 80 is an absolute flop, as is the 60. Without a single hybrid product on the horizon, it does appear that, at least for the time being, nissan is in big trouble. Infiniti, i think, has a year to turn it around, at most.

Ya, after he didn’t even try and just said nothing he can do to come close to what I asked for, I just stopped looking at anything in their lineup, so I am fairly ignorant of their offerings at this point.

I am surprised they don’t have any hybrid stuff coming. Sort of mind blowing. I can understand if they don’t have tons of new EVs, but HYBRIDS…lol come on guys. I’ve had 2 Altimas and a Sentra. Before I was hunting for hybrids, I would have been content with a Rogue or something, but in a weird way, he sort of saved me.

I’ve never looked into Infiniti’s lineup so I have absolutely no idea what models are popular or good. I will say, I saw a couple pictures on here of interior and they had a killer sort of blonde, off-white, cream whatever you want to call it, interior color which I liked, but to little, too late, I guess.

Was at the LA Auto Show late last wk, and there was very little crowd interest in brand-new Murano (actually, no interest at all, as far as I could tell).

I liked that the touch controls have haptic feedback.

What happens if NMAC goes under?

you keep the car?

Well in all seriousness, a bank such as ally would buy the loan for 50c on the dollar and continue to hound you for payments

I wish.

I know some other bank would buy out the debt and continue BAU. But I always wondered what happens to MSDs if a company declares Ch 11. Aren’t the MSDs treated as liabilities for the company on the 10-k?

I am wondering the same. Was negotiating a lease recently but paused when I saw the news.

I’m trying to look into this more through work and yes, they would be listed as liabilities. However I am pretty sure various parts of Nissan would be sold to different buyers before bankruptcy, even if that didn’t happen, the MSD’s are held at NMAC and not Nissan. It’s a good question though and I am going to see what I can find out.

Maybe GM Financials bankruptcy from 2008 would be an example? Not sure if they did MSDs back then

Out here in CA, Universal City Nissan just ‘vanished’

the one right by the 101 as u drive past the nbc building???

Yes, reports are that the lots are empty like my mitsubishi dealership

I did it on two BMWs and I am not doing it again.
Both times I had to explain it quite a bit to the two people I transferred the car to. Getting people to fork up 3-5K is not easy, and technically it’s all on you. BMW doesn’t help you with it. So they will transfer the lease and if you don’t get the MSD, you are screwed. Hell if someone was an a-hole they can just not pay you…

It’s just not worth the hassle to me now.

Yep - Dealership owners are looking to partner with a different brand.

Perhaps I spoke too soon when I said I didn’t think we would get into fire sale territory after seeing AutoCompanion increase the percentage off MSRP. Certainly getting into the good deal range anyways.

They’re hurting. 16% off MY 25s is pretty wild, plus the 18 to 20 off everything else

The problem with a great deal is that you just don’t know what may happen if they really do fold without any other company picking up the tab. No warranty, no OEM parts other than what is out there and who knows what else?
