Next vehicle after X3M.. X5/6M? GLE 63s AMG? or something else

Thank you for the realistic advice!!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I also figure X3 might not be big enough.. I will look into Lyriq and XC90 as well!

I JUST got a second car seat a week ago and he’s 22 months now. And honestly it’s just because we’re wasteful. It’ll go in the i5 after I turn in the q8, but again my car is really not the family car. Definitely not putting stroller in i5

360 revolving car seat is a must once you graduate from the infant one… or just get a 360 one from the get go (that fits infants)

Sorry lastly if you go electric with your car, I quickly found out sitting in charging stations with wife/infant at home was not what I wanted. I lasted a month or so and cheaply hooked up an extension from dryer outlet using splitvolt… sadly the power part of it was outside and got rained on and shorted our breaker. Eventually figured out that was issue and got electrician to put in 60amp outlet into garage and got a charger… best decision ever

Cayenne was our first baby carrier; best decision ever. You need space, you need comfort, you need built-in window shades. If you can, go find the car seat/infant carrier you intend to get, and install them in your test drives.

Rear-facing Infant carriers take a whole lot of space and if you sit with the seat pretty far back… oh boy. You’ll be changing diapers wherever you can, thus the need for a big flat trunk space. Good luck, and congrats

edit: One more thing - cloth or perforated seats are a big no-no :joy:

I’d lease a CPO Cayenne a million times before I would consider buying an X5M or GLE63.

Had a friend who bought an X5M and he took a massive hit on it when he traded for an RS6.

Haha thank you for sharing your story and advice on revolving car seat. I will definitely look into that as well as installing a charger at home if I go with EV car

Thank you!! I will do more research and test drive Cayenne. Looks like it’s going to check all boxes. I know there are a few trims for Cayenne, and mind if I ask you which one you got?

I will keep in mind to avoid cloth or perforated seats as well :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

That is my biggest concern.. huge depreciation on performance SUVs like X5M. Like other hackers suggested, I will look into Cayenne. Thank you

I haven’t seen a photo of iX3, but I will look it up too!

You’ll have to drive them and see which one suits your needs and budget…the challenge with Porsche is there are so many options (a la carte) if you’re ordering and they get very pricey for the spec’d out ones on the lot. Also, no lease deals. These are usually buys, unless you get a CPO lease.

I’d go for an RS6. Buy CPO and dodge the initial depreciation. They seem to be holding value relatively well. Sporty, spacious, more of a drivers car. And it looks cool af

Surprised no one mentioned leasing an ugly ass XM yet. If you have experience with an X5M and and X3M, definitely give it a try. Hard to get rid off though.

He mentioned he didn’t like the hybrid in the M5, assumed it would be the same for the XM. But yeah for the money XM is great (to drive, not to look at)

Its the same but honestly, people don’t understand that the hybrid portion is an option. You can always have the vehicle in constant V8 mode (with additional power from battery over certain RPM of course).
Almost every magazine out there has accepted how they initially misunderstood the hybrid platform of the new M5 and the XM as well.

I 100% agree with the first part. BMW really cheaped out on the interior of this generation 5. Sucks big time but the hybrid part, I actually have started enjoying it.

How does someone avoid the @djrabbi outcome with a $10k repair bill that Jon landfilled?

This is the move. I loved my RS6. It won’t feel as stiff as your X3M in regular driving. It’s a little toned down compared to the AMG’s and M’s but it’s still an animal. Also very spacious and fam friendly.

Otherwise I’d say m-lite X5 or X7. Those have decent leases but I did see that you mentioned not wanting one. Worth a test drive though people love them.

CPO or extended warranty. Also helps if you buy a nice one to begin with lol

Yeah that Rabbi should stick with hacking EQS and Hornets. Used cars are his kryptonite.
