Newbie - What to ask for? - Hyundai Tucson Lease Details (PA)

I’ve been reading all the post but now when it comes down to the details I’m not sure how to proceed.

I know this deal is not good but what should I ask them to change? I’m in Pennsylvania.

Here is the deal the sales rep sent me:

Thank you!

We always recommend the following method before you ever contact a dealership. If you do all of the work up front, you’ll have a stress free dealer experience and set yourself for success.

  1. Read Leasing 101 (Blog | LEASEHACKR) to understand how to calculate a lease payment and the variables. Monthly payment is an output, not an input!!
  2. Pick a specific vehicle that you want to target
  3. Gather the current MF, RV and incentives from Edmunds forums for your zip code
  4. Research the LH marketplace and other deals that have been made recently on your vehicle - what was their pre-incentive discount? How did their lease terms differ?
  5. Plug your numbers into the LH calculator (CALCULATOR | LEASEHACKR), and use a pre-incentive discount similar to what you have seen
  6. Create a target deal, this is what you’re trying to negotiate to. You can try different terms, selling price discount, etc. and see how your monthly payment is affected. It is also possible that different trims of your vehicle may have different MF and RV (i.e. this is very common with GM), so make sure that you look into that. Come up with a set of inputs that give you the output that you want - your desired monthly payment.

With a target price determined, you now have a deal to pursue and compare dealer offers against. More importantly, you have a solid foundation to work from.

RUN.

2.45% discount???

RUN.

Thanks, I see Edmunds has the selling price of $22,138. That, even with the MF of .00131, lowers the payment to $207 and the LH score goes up to 10.5 years.

That’s what I was thinking too. haha

The only useful information from edmunds is the rv/mf/incentives they give you when you post and ask on the forum

Ahh, I did see that before. I’ll post something on there. Thanks!

My apologies… they sent me 2 proposals and I entered the wrong one… I’ve updated the link. (The other one was for an SE)

wait, they’re really giving you $10k+ off the MSRP?

*edit, sorry I assume its a typo - should be 28k not 38k? - just saw this was a Tucson

Is it too much to ask them to change the make and model? If the 44.9% residual is correct, you will need a lot more off the selling price to make this respectable.

I’d look at a Honda CRV. There have been a few on here under $400/mn for sure.

I just checked the car online (haven’t wasted time traveling there) and they added $10K to the price

The list price online is $28,375 with a sale price of $23,024. Geez… this changes a lot

Thanks, and I agree!

whaaa? really? a $10k ‘market adjustement’ on a Tucson? hahaha hilarious. I know it’s newly redesigned but that’s crazy. Run away from this dealer.

This is all resolved by just making offers rather than asking for quotes.

They said the prices online were for buying not lease. I sent an offer and they didn’t budge on their terrible original offer. I passed.

Thanks, for the help!

That’s a reasonable plan. On to the next one
