I am beginning my lease-finding journey. I know the RV and MF on the car I want from Edmunds, and I am now getting ready to email some dealers.
Is there a specific person in the dealership I should be emailing? Should I just use the contact form on the website? If the email address of the sales manager is available on the website, should I email them directly?
What exactly am I asking? Is it as simple as, “I’m looking to lease [car in inventory]. What is your sales price for this car?” Should I be asking for them to tell me the RV and MF (even though I have it)?
My own experience in which I have been able to do some great deals:
Iusually just inquire about the car directly at the listing, usually it just ask for some basic information about yourself and then somebody will reach out asking you for mileage and confirming the model and stock number…of course if you know a sales person text him/her directly… My recommendation is first ask for their offer and then come back with your Questions and counteroffer based on facts. I’ve seen dealers coming with an aggressive deal at just point of contact but usually they’ll give you a crappy deal to begin with…I’m not afraid of saying things like “I see in leasehackr discounts of X% and monthly payments of X.
Also shop around. On my last Deal I contacted all the dealers with inventory I liked within 250 miles of my house. Some will be looking forward to talk to you virtually some will say unless you come I won’t give you any good deal.
Have it in written and don’t fill any credit application until then.
Be firm that you won’t be coming in unless you have a good offer in written. I personally don’t waste my time at dealers, just go to sign and deliver… also seeing and driving the car could tempt you to sign a bad deal lol
