Newbie lease Qs (GM/Chevrolet)

First lease, newbie Qs. Company is “ACAR” (Chevrolet). Have not received even my first payment instructions in the mail yet so excuse my complete lack of understanding of how leases work.

  • Say 30K is a service milestone. If I turn in the car at 29999 miles, that means I don’t technically have to have done the service, correct?
  • Can I do things like change cabin air filter myself during the lease? Do I need to keep receipts to prove i.e. I bought an OEM filter etc.?
  • In the event of a collision and needing repair work, I’ve read that the work needs to be completed at a make-approved bodyshop? Is this true, and if so, how do I get a list of local approved shops?

Don’t worry about it - only cross that bridge when/if you need to

From reading this, it more sounds like your first NEW car.

  • Most modern cars Especially Chevys need an oil change every 10k, and most places can reset that little light for you. Turning it in at 29999 to avoid the ‘light’ is risky versus a $40 oil change at Jiffy Lube.
  • Cabin Air Filters are ‘as needed to change’ not must change. And can be changed with $20 and some elbow grease.
  • GM doesn’t have a lot of ‘approved shops’. Anyhow your insurance company will direct you to one of their ‘shops’ and you can sleep soundly.

Now after all that
Certain cars do have higher level requirements each year but since you said A Chevy, I will go with the lowest common car.
