Is the car that bad that you have to loose $13k?
While I agree that the damage does not affect the driving dynamics of the car, there is water leaking through into the rear storage space when it rains and the rear hatch no longer consistently closes automatically and needs to be manually slammed close. What has me concerned is the water leaking through which is likely going to lead to corrosion in the long term and possibly cause electrical issues in the rear panel which houses the subwoofer and tail lights. Iām going to see what the cost out of pocket would be for me to have a body shop fix this. It just burns me up that I may somehow end up eating the cost of damage to a car that was bought brand new and expected to not have been in an accident.
I get it that it sucks but wouldnāt be financially better use insurance to cover the repair bill rather than loose $13k?
I understand that emotions sometimes overrun logic and youād be pissed every time time getting into that car so it may not worth it.
Just trying to understand if thatās emotions or there is logic.
Itās definitely being driven more by emotion than logic and while I tend to be a very logical individual, I also hate being scammed like this and rather than allow it to bother me and waste my time to get it resolved, Iād rather start fresh. I will always wonder in the back of my head if there is any other damage on the car and whether I will have additional issues creep up down the road.
Emotional of being scammed are real. Not arguing that.
Just donāt replace that with buyers remorse after sinking $13k to get rid of it and then thinking - should not have done that.
Unfortunately - scams are fact of life. Be it damaged car lost as new or ā¦

Sometimes the hatch issue is just a matter or aligning the hinges and the latch. Donāt give up on this yet. Plus if you do sell it, make sure to trade it in, so you get a tax credit (as long as it makes financial sense)> Plus you would not want to sell a lemon to a private party, would you?
can you post a picture of what looks like accident repair? perhaps the service advisor was telling you that just so that he would not have to bother with doing warranty work?
Agreed, not giving up yet and appreciate the advice. I would never sell this to a private party as Iām a strong believer in karma but dealers on the other handā¦well you can guess how I feel about them.
Iāll post some pictures later today but he did show me the gross misalignment of the hatch and the hinges that look like there was paint applied that was not clear coated. I looked at some other Siennaās on the lot and they did not seem to have the non clear coated paint near the hinges but it wasnāt the same color either.
Pull the AutoCheck as well. Damage on my vehicle never showed on the CarFax, it only showed on the AutoCheck.
Interesting, Iāll definitely do that.
