And they take care of the 2k equity? Yeah sounds good.
Nope, the equity would be on top of that. My strategy is to go to the dealer that offers me the best deal, ask them to look at my car for trade in, and if the numbers are right, pull out the emails re: $184 lease.
184 without taking care of the equity is too much for Sonata. If you can stick to 180 with trade in, then sign right there (after consulting with your spouse lol). Here is Random deal from dealer website in MA. This involves 10k miles (so add $20 for 12k miles) and drive off would be upfront (Assume 1200, so about 40 a month more). So we are at 169 12k miles, sign and drive. 184 is good if it involves/includes 2k equity. Yeah no harm in getting their quote for trade but say your budget is 180 a month period, including trade equity and sign and drive.
Wow that’s a helluva deal. I’ve only had one dealer here in Cleveland offer the $184, the rest are saying over $200 w/o the negative equity. I was hoping to convince them $200/mo with the negative equity rolled in.
It’s close to the 180 deal when you factor the fact that this deal is 10k miles and is not 0 drive off. Yes, 200 with equity would be great too. The Sonata is a reliable, roomy car, you will like it. But go test drive.
Actually, after the test drive get the numbers from the dealer and post here and people will tell you whether it is good or not. Post MSRP, dealer sales price, Money Factor, monthly payment.
@dboothsummers, @vhooloo is onto something. You can probably get that sonata done near what he suggests and roll the equity in for a roughly $200 payment.
Also, i think you can get a VW jetta 1.4 around that payment too. I don’t have details on it but i remember mid $100s payment on those. Maybe you can start getting quotes on those as well.
I’m also looking at the Optima, some good lease incentives on that right now. Currently shopping with dealers willing to email me, will keep posted.
take a look at this jetta special:
looks like it includes $1000 loyalty which you don’t have which is an extra $27/mo on a 36 mo lease.
So mid $100s on that car if you don’t have loyalty without rolling in negative equity should be doable.
awesome, thanks for sharing. add another $20/month to get to $12k miles and then a $700 dealer fee plus acq fee.
At the Hyundai dealer right now. Waiting on what they say on the trade
Just so you know, CarMax will buy your car but it will be less than auction value because that’s where they’re going to take it.
$237 absolutely nothing down after 8% sales tax and negative equity. Mf .00021
how much are they giving you for the trade-in?
$2600. Which is above what it’s worth honestly
ok that’s great, do you have it in writing? Get it in writing and then u can insist on any other dealer to give you the same trade-in value. I agree $2600 is strong but $237 seems a little high. I wouldn’t pull the trigger yet, at least if you really want to go with them let them sweat it a little, they’ll come down in price before Dec 31.
Also, i would still take it to carmax. If you have the carmax estimate come in at $2600 you are golden to shop around. Dealer’s typically have no issue giving you the same as what car max gives you.
So you could go around shopping the best deal on a new car, and then at the end say “look i have this car, i want to trade it in, give me the same as carmax and we have a deal”
Thanks for all the advice, seriously. I’m pretty happy w this TBH. My heater only works intermittently and it was working today (we live in Cleveland so gotta have it) so I wanna move it today before it stops working again lol
Yeah take it. Not worth the aggravation to haggle over another $10. I think I found a 109 deal in Boston. The 12 k miles add $20 and the 0 drive down adds another 30. The negative equity definitely adds another 60. So you are in the 200-210 range before tax, so I think this is as good as it gets give or take $10-15. So enjoy the new car
Thanks again for all the advice. I’m so happy to be out of the “rumble wagon” lol
Glad it worked out…enjoy!
