Imo there is no script to follow when you aren’t going through a broker.
In a perfect world they messed up and sat on that one black 2023 I linked above for a bit too long and they want to get it outta here. See what happens if you offer to take it off their hands tomorrow.

Actually, the IX is not the same size as X5, IX is similar to X3 which I feel. Do you test-drive the iX yet? If not, I highly recommend you test drive it first. Most things are different when you say the real car in person with just seeing some pictures or thoughts.
@hjqdsg123 My wife had 3- X3’s before moving to the X5. I have not driven an iX yet, I have looked at them in person though.
@max_g There isn’t anything in the midwest marketplace. There are only 5- open topics, one of which is a BMW broker but is currently on vacation. I put an inquiry into Hyndai dealership 3 days ago but no response yet.
Don’t be limited to your own region just to get an idea of what pricing can look like.

Do you like the interior design and the seats? Sounds like you are a BMW loyal customer. Yes, go to test drive it, also the Mercedes EQE or EQS, they also good at range and have good deals.
We have been loyal to BMW for our daily, I have a few other cars. I’d consider an EQ E/S if they were a killer deal and would buy out the X5, but would definitely prefer a BMW. I’m still shocked at the pricing in this market, $1200 X5, $800 X3, $720 i4 35’s… So in 2.5 years an X3 now costs what an X5 did? Geez.k
Honestly, I am way too deep in my own head now with different options, analysis paralysis as someone once told me. I was thinking today that maybe, as much as we love new cars, we just buy the 21 X5 and keep that for the long term as the (eventual) “beater”. Then maybe try to find something used, or new in the $300-350/mo range for a couple of years until the market gets better and the X5 is paid off. It’s not that we can’t afford the new cars, but at some point, it just doesn’t make sense to spend so much money on a given vehicle. If it were an M3, 911, or something cool I could almost justify it, but a common SUV?
I am still planning to do more digging with BMW options, do some research on selling the X5 outright, and go to a Hyundai dealer to learn more about the Ioniq 5 over the weekend. I know Tesla was mentioned a few times but I have zero desire to own any Tesla products. I can get Ford A-Plan, but Ford lease prices are bad and I checked on an Aviator GT and its still $1200/mo.
The BMW programs just suck right now. I remember just a few years ago that the BMW programs were so good that BMW Dave had 320i loaners for $199/mo. Anyways NYCLIFE just posted this - NYCLIFE August DEALS - Google Sheets. If you look, the programs for Audi and Volvo are excellent, and the programs for BMW just suck right now, even with loyalty.
I have an Ioniq 5. It’s really nice, but it’s drastically different from the X5. The Q5 is a smaller vehicle, but will have a much more familiar feel than the Ioniq 5. At the very least, go to the Hyundai dealer and ask to test drive the Ioniq. Take it home, and let your wife drive it.
Seems an odd choice for this mission. Much better choices to spend that money instead of a used X5 that will be very expensive to keep long term.
If you want an X5, I would be looking more at purchasing an X5 loaner. They include CPO warranty and can be found in the 50’s. Finance this via BMWFS and your payments are half of leasing a new one.
I drove an Ioniq 5 for a year, and yes overall it’s a great vehicle and drives nicely. However, after having an X5 and having a BMW (service loaners, etc), you may not like having a Hyundai and the ownership experience.
We are treated very well at the dealerships even though we have mainstream models, free service loaners, free maintenance for 3 years, etc, these are nice perks with BMW. I have no idea what, if any, perks you get with Hyundai? Honestly, her '21, and a service loaner will be identical except for the nicer stitching pattern on the seats. However, the one feature I want considering she does stop-and-go driving is adaptive cruise control, which I believe is standard with Hyundai and a $1700 option w/BMW. Her payoff at lease is $35k and that would be over $800/mo for 48 mo finance, I don’t think a $50k loaner is going to be $650/mo without something crazy like 96 mo financing.
I do appreciate the suggestion and will search the local dealers again for loaners.
I know people equate old BMWs to endless money pits, and repairs can be very expensive. Porsches are even worse, but in reality, are also reliable if maintained. My personal experience has been good/fortunate though, but others have been less fortunate. My first BMW, an E90 335i kept until 110k miles, and the only real repair ever was an axle shaft. My first F30 I kept until about 70k with the only big repair being the Drive screen. I know there have been issues with VANOS, injectors, and timing chains on various models but I don’t believe that affects the late B58’s? I have no idea what the longevity of the 48v mild hybrid looks like though.
By beater I don’t mean an abused and uncared for car. I just mean something used to day-to-day tasks that doesn’t have to be worried over like a new car. It will still be detailed, maintained on a proper schedule, etc regardless of make or model.

At this weight, I wouldn’t even bother with a BMW and go with a full size truck of your choice. They will have enough room for bike/triathlon + 2 good bois and anything else you throw at it essentially. The upfront cost is quite high but I would say any of full sized trucks would hold their value significantly better than any non M BMW, but I’m sure the wife would notice the interior quality isn’t quite the same as X5.
Or just go with the two car approach.
You can ask, but I don’t think NYCLIFE does out-of-state deals. However, if you look at the calculator link - CALCULATOR | LEASEHACKR - it’s a straight 6.25% off MSRP and the standard $7500 fed lease credit and MSD. With a little work, you should be able to replicate the deal. When I say little, it’s just emailing like 20 dealers in your state, and hoping that at least one responds back to you. You might get lucky.

IDK how you went from here to thinking that a used X5 was the way to go.
No decisions have been made. We already have the X5, the wife likes it, and at a $35k residual the payment is cheaper than most leases. We could just buy it out and then add a more economical 2nd vehicle to share miles. And low mile, late model trucks are going for ridiculous prices (30-50k) and will not fit into a sub $400 payment in many cases.
Not sure what the final outcome will be yet, just started making rounds to various dealers to look at specific models. I found out today I can get a Mach-e Premium on A-Plan for $575/mo. The EV6, which is actually pretty nice in person, is around $610/mo but the dealership experience is very different. To bad there are no EV/PHEV that could be had (even used) in the $300-350/mo range.
I have to take my M340 in Friday for service so I have an appointment to meet with our sales guy and see what, if anything, they might be willing to do. To bad its the beginning of the month.
