I’m in the same boat so you can’t blame anyone trying to be cautious so they’re not spending extra. Just because a person can afford a car that’s luxury doesn’t mean that they are ok to pay extra fees. It’s about trying to control your finances.
Instead of putting the money towards another car, why don’t you just buy more miles on your lease? With VW, they will let me add any amount of miles to my existing lease anytime I want, with a nice little discount of $0.15 per mile vs the penalty of $0.25 per mile of excess miles at end of lease.
You are a great resource here and I ultimately agree with you since I am driving a MDX (is this luxury/psuedo-luxury?) instead of a mainstream brand. I perhaps overplayed VA taxes since while not ideal they are not dispositive if you get a true hackr deal.
I do think hackr deals on luxury SUVs can be a bit more expensive than comparably equipped non luxury SUVs but for sedans a good hackr can Normally get the monthly payments to be about the same for a well equipped luxury vs non luxury car.
I would consider the recent luxury SUV Lexus GX460 lease deals hackr worthy. Even some of the RX350 lease deals were very good. But yes I agree, luxury SUV hackr deals are harder to come by.
as of today, they still do. They’ll even let you roll it into your existing monthly so you don’t have a big hit at once if you would prefer to spread it out.
People have to keep this in mind, I’ve got many emails for people asking if I can do the same price on the S90 on the XC90 and the same price for the C class on the GLC. Nope. Somehow I feel like after seeing these C class/3 series deals I got a bad deal on my GX. However, there is nothing in the same class as the GX (my Volvo dealer did offer me, not anyone else, an XC90 T6 for 490 with 12k miles, but I like lexus)
