Need advice on lease transfer with XS Wear

Hi all,

I’m in the process of transferring my Chevy Volt lease to another buyer. He is test driving the car this week. There are a bunch of small scratches on the side from my husband’s SUV door from putting our kid into his car seat (he wasn’t being very careful). The scratches are on the surface and should be easily buffed out.

My lease has XS Wear which covers up to $5,000 of wear and tear. My question is, would it be a fair request for the buyer to ask me to fix the scratches before finalizing the lease transfer? Or can I say that XS Wear will cover it?

Any advice or guidance is appreciated!

Is your excess wear policy transferable with the lease transfer?

Maybe get an inspection done to verify if it’s excessive in the 1st place along with the cost.

yes it’s transferable. GM contracts autoVin for end of lease inspections and they say they don’t do mid lease inspections. The buyer requested an inspection so we’re going with another company.

Buff them out yourself. Otherwise, I would point out the wear contract that you have paid for and stand your ground. Someone else will take it if the buyer doesn’t, I’m sure.

Maybe get a good detail job.

Also the 3rd party inspection will tell you the costs and you can use it to say that it will be covered by the $5k coverage. Good Luck.
