MSD for someone in NY

,

Hi!
I got a really good offer from a broker who is offering to lease my car from mid-Atlantic where MSD are an option. A couple of questions please:

  1. MSD will reduce my monthly and the return on my money is better than just sitting that amount in the a tbill (based on a quick math that I did)
  2. I live in NY and I thought we couldn’t do MSD, but we could lease the car from another state where MSD are allowed, is this correct?
  3. What happen at the end of the lease and I need to return my car, do I have to return it to the original dealer?
  4. Any other consideration that I should know about doing MSD

Thanks!

Your broker should be able to answer these questions but:

  1. Yes, generally speaking, with BMW, the ROI is good on MSD’s.
  2. NY dealers cannot do MSD’s, residents can.
  3. Return it locally
  4. Not really, as long as you’re not the type of person who is going to severely mess up your car and cause lease end damage, but it’s not like you could get out of paying for it in most cases anyway.

That’ll depend on a car’s make. E.g. Toyota/Lexus won’t allow it even if dealer is out of state, Audi will. What’s the mystery car?

I was assuming a BMW, the post is tagged as BMW

Yup, then OP’s good

You can do MSD in any state it all depends on your car brand. I did it for my bmw M5 and my dealer was in NJ (tenafly)

thank you!
yes it is a bmw
super clear
so my only problem will be if i have to return the car, assuming that I don’t buy it at the end of the lease

It’s not a problem, if you lose a key you lose a key, you’re not going to let BMW put you in collections over it if you’re not using MSD’s, just something to be aware of.
