I don’t know as far as NJ goes. I was coming from CA, who I had to send a change of address/release of liability form to.
My two leases were through Honda and Hyundai, so I don’t have first had experience with CCAP, but I’d assume it’s a similar process of just notifying them of the change of address. You should contact them to be sure of what they want.
If she reinstated your policy then I would consider yourself insured. My recollection is that they care about where the home residence is that the car is parked and primarily driven from, which is NY, regardless of the change over in registration.
This is a classic case of overthinking it, and then over-explaining it on the phone to someone who has the attention span of a goldfish and can’t wait to hang up quickly enough
Once you have moved,
Change your address with Mazda Financial
Change your address with your insurer
In the meantime: Schedule your appointment with NYS DMV to change your DL and plates/reg. Contact Mazda Financial about the paperwork you’ll need to take with you for registration purposes.
You don’t have to worry about title; that’s in the bank’s possession. Don’t even mention it at the DMV.
Don’t worry about driving on NJ plates while you’re waiting for an NY DMV appointment to get new plates.
Thanks a lot. I totally agree with you about overthinking. Being a noob, please understand where others like me are coming from. Now I feel like a pro after your reply and will share this wisdom down the road.
Thanks for reply. It’s Manhattan county. I have to also exchange my driving license from NJ to NY, which can only be done in person. I tried all the location in Manhattan and all are packed until July.
Upon researching the DMV situation in south FL, it appears there’s 2 sep locations for DL and MV? As a new resident with a lease, I’d need a new DL, title, and a plate. But in Miami and Broward counties, it seems the state agencies only offer DLs, whereas the 3rd party “tag agencies” issue the plate? The nearest “dual agencies” (which can do both) are in Palm Beach county… is this normal? Why cant I just do everything at a DMV?
Anyone familiar with this? Seems kinda dysfucntional, unless I’m not understanding properly
